Kempt Leads NCRA Great Plains Late Models into Belleville This Sunday
by David Smith Jr Park City, Kansas (August 30) - Steve Kempt of Shelton, Nebraska has all but wrapped up the inaugural championship on the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley’s Racing Products DIRTcar Great Plains late model trail. He can put on the exclamation point on the championship and the 2011 mastery of the Belleville High Banks this coming Labor Day weekend Sunday night edition as the tour closes out the season in Belleville, Kansas.
Kempt picked up his first career series feature victory back on July 3rd at the High Banks of Belleville and looks to make a repeat performance this Holiday weekend and a chance for a $2500 victory. This will also be a point’s race for the series regular late model division as well.
The real battle on the Great Plains DIRTcar late model tour will be for the runner up position as Kearney, Nebraska’s Bo Egge holding a slim fifty point advantage over William Keeney of Junction City, Kansas. Brad Wagoner of Colby, Kansas is fourth in the point standings, five points behind Keeney while Jimmy Seagraves (Valley Center, Kansas) and Vince Wagoner (Lenora, Kansas) are tied for the fifth position in the point standings.
The series sprint car and modified divisions will also be competing making this a full night of racing sanctioned by the NCRA.
Gates open at 6:00 PM with hot laps starting at 6:30 PM. Races are set for a 7:30 PM start time. Tickets are 20 for adults while kids ages fourteen and under are just $5. All pit passes are $25. The Belleville High Banks is located 2.0 miles north of US 36 on US 81, then 0.4 mile southeast on M St. to 7th St., then 0.1 mile east (near the water tower, at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds).
