Miley dominates Precise Late Model feature for first win of 2011 SARVER, Penn. (August 12) - On a Chamber of Commerce Friday Night in Sarvertown, the Joe Pitkavish Memorial 30-lap race for the Diehl Mods was a fantastic race between Brian Weaver and Dave Murdick. After battling side-by-side for the first 26 laps, Weaver pulled away after the final restart but was 10 pounds light at the scales giving the win to Dave Murdick. Budweiser points leader Carl Bowser won the Ti22 Sprint feature and pocketed an extra $1,100 from the Notary Express Quick Cash bonus. Jared Miley dominated the Precise Late Model feature after passing early leader Boom Briggs on lap three for his first feature win of 2011. Wayne Carbo returned to Sheetz Victory Lane in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman for the first time since April 2009!
Another loaded field of Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models was led to the green flag by Mike Johnson and Boom Briggs, with Briggs taking the lead through turns one & two. Looking for his first feature win of 2011, Jared Miley rocketed from fourth to second on the lap two restart and was challenging Briggs for the lead as they entered turns three & four. Budweiser points leader Dave Hess Jr. uncharacteristically spun in turns two on lap three and rolled pitside, but would return to the track to tail the field.
On the lap three restart, Briggs wisely restarted on the outside of the front row, keeping Miley on the bottom and behind him in second. However, under green flag conditions, Miley was visibly the fastest car on the track, but couldn’t find a way around the 99 car until lap eight. Miley took the lead around the topside of three & four and by the time he reached the backstretch was already pulling away. Within a few laps, Miley had a full straightaway lead and only had to navigate some late race lapped traffic to erase any doubt and roll the #H1 into Sheetz Victory Lane.
While Miley blistered the rest of the field, the racing for positions behind him was incredible with Mike Johnson all over Boom Briggs for second and Mike Pegher Jr. waging battle with Doug Eck for fourth. When the checkered flag waved it was Briggs in second, Johnson third, Eck fourth and Pegher fifth. Gregg Satterlee and John Garvin Jr. also battle for position most of the race with Satterlee prevailing for sixth. Budweiser Points leader Dave Hess Jr. recovered to finish eighth and needs just six points to secure his second consecutive Budweiser Track Championship. Ken Schaltenbrand and Dave Murdick rounded out the Precise top ten, while Eck and Murdick won National Guard heat races.
