Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Charges to Whynot Triumph

by Ben Shelton
Northport, Alabama (August 2) – Ronny Lee Hollingsworth returned to the scene of the crime on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, where he had claimed his first win of the year a month earlier, and would power his #18 Flynn Motorsports/ Warrior/Clement Racing Engine Super Late Model to his second win of the season at the facility.

Ronny Lee Hollingsworth opened his doubleheader weekend on Friday night as he invaded North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) for the 1st Annual Shoals Shootout 50, which posted a $5,000-to-win purse for the Super Late Model division. A field of 36 cars entered the unsanctioned event, and Hollingsworth would start the night on a high note by setting fast time in his group and overall to earn the pole position for the 50 lap feature in front of a huge crowd. Ronny Lee would lead the opening laps of the feature, and looked to have a good shot to claim the win before getting crossed up in the corner and spinning from the lead. He would go on to retire from the event to a 17th place finish.

Saturday night found the team at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) in a $2,500-to-win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS), as Ronny Lee looked for redemption from Friday night's disappointment. He would be successful in his pursuit. With 22 Super Late Models on hand, Hollingsworth locked into the seventh starting spot for the feature via time trials and the dash. He would quickly work his way to the front of the field and went on to fight off the advances of Chris Wall and David Breazeale to claim his second win of the year at the facility and his second win overall of 2011. Hollingsworth was followed across the line by Wall, Breazeale, Steve Bryan, and Keith Miller.

The upcoming weekend, August 4th-6th, will find Hollingsworth making the long tow to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) for the 24th Annual USA Nationals. The crown jewel event gets underway on Thursday night, August 4th with a $5,000-to-win, Corn Belt Clash tour event. On Friday and Saturday night, the $50,000-to-win, USA Nationals will be on tap as the event is sanctioned by the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour. The event boasts a total purse in excess of $250,000.

Ronny Lee Hollingsworth would like to thank all of his sponsors including Waddle Trucking, Flynn Racing, Kelley Electrical Contractors, Vic Hill Racing Engines, MSRMafia.com, Xtreme Graphics By J-Rod, Stuckey Enterprises, Hoosier Racing Tires, VP Racing Fuels, Mastersbilt Race Cars, and O.H.
