Jimmy Mars Picks Up Win Number Six of 2011 at Deer Creek Over Busy Holiday Weekend

MENOMONIE, Wisc. (July 7) -  The Mars Racing team recorded their sixth win of the 2011 campaign on Saturday night, July 2 at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota! Jimmy Mars, fresh off his convincing 'Firecracker 100' triumph a week prior at Lernerville, started eleventh on the grid in the DART Challenge Series feature event. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace disposed of the cars ahead of him in the first thirty-two circuits and went on to claim the $3,000 payday ahead of Zach Johnson, Doug Herrick, Kyle Peterlin, and John Kaanta.

In other action over the four-race holiday weekend for the #28 team, Jimmy racked up a pair of runner-up finishes on Thursday and Friday at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin. He charged from seventh on Thursday to finish second behind winner Jake Redetzke in a $1,000 to win program, while he blitzed from the twelfth starting spot on Friday to finish second behind Redetzke in a $3,000 to win DART Challenge Series show.

The final race of the weekend took the Mars Racing team to the nearby Eagle Valley Speedway in Jim Falls, Wisconsin on Sunday evening, July 3 for a $2,000 to win DART Challenge showdown. Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action and was running a solid second in the running order with only three laps remaining in the A-Main. Unfortunately, he suffered fuel pump problems and retired from the race in the fourteenth position.

Jimmy and the #28 team tentatively plan to stay around home again this upcoming weekend, as they will most likely travel to the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin on Friday night, July 8. A regular weekly show is planned for tomorrow night at Red Cedar. They will spend the rest of the weekend prepping their equipment for a busy couple of weeks ahead.

You can watch Jimmy sling dirt at the following venues coming up:
