Brian Birkhofer Starts Prepping for Independence and Deer Creek Following Summer Nationals Triumph

(MUSCATINE, IOWA) The Birkhofer Racing team racked up their second feature win of the 2011 campaign on Monday night, July 4 at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa! The grueling UMP Summer Nationals tour rolled into Burlington and a strong field of competitors were on hand for the special Independence Day event. Brian Birkhofer laid down the fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session and later won his heat race.

After drawing the pole position prior to the start of the 40-lap main event, Brian took the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back in the caution-free affair. The popular Muscatine, Iowa native claimed the $5,000 top prize in beating Jack Sullivan, Dennis Erb, Jeep Van Wormer, and Jason Feger to the checkers.

"That place (34 Raceway) has been pretty good to us this year," commented Birkhofer today, who also won a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at the facility back in May. "After Granite City a week or so ago, I was really down about things, but getting back into victory lane lifts my spirits some. Our cars have been pretty fast this year, but some dumb luck here and there has demoralized us to a degree. We'll keep working hard at the shop and get ready for Independence and Deer Creek next week!"

Next up for the #15b team will be a pair of $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdowns in the states of Iowa and Minnesota on July 12-13. The Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, Iowa will be the track of choice next Tuesday, while the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota will host the annual 'Gopher 50' on Wednesday. Brian is a two-time winner of the 'Gopher 50,' as he picked up the winner's share back in 2004 and 2008.
