Two Top Tens for the Gentry Motorsports Team on the Holiday Weekend

Murfreesboro, TN (07/05/2011) – David Earl Gentry and the Gentry Motorsports drove home two top-10 finishes in Alabama during the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series events, and still remain in striking distance of their third NeSmith DLM Championship.

On Saturday July 2nd, the Gentry Motorsports took to Penton Raceway (Penton Ala.)Debuting a new Warrior Chassis and look for NeSmith Racings $2500 to-win 50 lap event. Gentry would time in with a 14.700 second lap and eighth quickest amongst the 31 car field, lining himself to start in the second position in heat number two. Gentry would drop one position to finish third in the heat, setting up to start 12 on the field for the 50 lap event. Gentry took the green flag and buckled in for the long haul, but the first of four cautions waved on lap one for a spun car. On the restart Gentry was fast to the draw and made the pass for the 11th position, 3 laps went down before the second caution fell for a four car pileup in turn four taking out a couple cars. Gentry would restart in the 10th position, racing hard but not gaining any ground on the dry slicked track. Two more cautions would fall during the 50 lap race but that wouldn’t help the Gentry Motorsports team Warrior chassis gain any positions. Gentry would bring home a 10th place finish on the night, behind Thomas, Darda, Edge, Robertson, Breuer, Ogletree, Cantrell, King, Turner and Gentry rounding out the top-10. After leaving Penton Raceway, Gentry sat 32 points behind with 884, behind current point leader Dan Breuer with 916.

The next night July 3rd the team was in attendance at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, AL) for another round of NeSmith DLM $2500 to-win 50 lap event. Gentry qualified 14th with a 16.510 lap time. Gentry would race to a second place finish in his heat and would start 12th in the feature. During the feature 10 caution flags plagued the race. Gentry took the green and was dodging bullets as cars were in the mix of battle. The first caution waved on lap one for a spun car. A complete restart ensued and the 24 car field was bunched up once again. 5 laps went down and Gentry was hanging tight in 12th, when the second caution waved for a slowed car on the speedway. On the next Gentry worked the Warrior chassis up thru traffic picking cars off by lap 10 he worked his way up to the eighth position, when caution waved once again for debris on the speedway. Five more cautions would wave throughout the 50 lap event and Gentry would gain two more positions to the sixth spot before the checkers fell. Bringing in a sixth place finish for the Eades Farm, CSB Consultants Warrior Chassis

Gentry has 972 points with four top fives and eight top tens in nine starts. . Gentry remains in the second position in the points, 36 behind Breuer with 1008 points.Gentry has completed all 445 laps of competition in the first nine NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events held so far this season.

Gentry Motorsports next scheduled race is the weekend of July 29th & 30th with locations to-be-announced by NeSmith Racing Dirt Late Model series
