Burgoon wins third, Angelicchio wins Fastrak special, with Takach, Simmons, Blair, and Steigerwald also winning at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway

PITTSBURGH, Penn. (July 2) - Brandon Burgoon, McDonald PA picked up his third Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic DIRTcar Super Late Model 25 lap feature of the season. Burgoon started 3rd, and followed early leader Dave Wade for 11 laps, then made his move on lap 12 and sped to the win. While Burgoon was out front, the battle for 2-6 was the real race, with Mike Norris working into second, point leader Mike Davis in third, Wade falling to fourth with Mike Johnson in fifth, and Steve Baker in sixth all within a straight away of each other. Following Baker was Ben Miley, Kari Gasser, John Garvin Jr., and Jim Lepro. Mike Davis and Ben Miley won the heats.

The Fastrak Cross the Boarders Speedweek Special for the Brougher's Machine Shop Fastrak Crate Late Models, saw Greensburg PA's Dan Angelicchio pick up an impressive win, his first of the season at PPMS. Max Blair and Steve Dixon brought the field down for the green, with Blair taking the early lead. Blair pulled away from the field, while a heated battle for second ensued. Steve Dixon, Josh Double, Angelicchio, and Lauren Longbreak battled for the spot, with sixth starting Angelicchio moving into second on lap 3. Angelicchio set out after Blair, while a lot of eyes were on two time PPMS winner Mike Pegher Jr. who started 21st after winning the B-Main worked his way thru the field. On lap 5 Blair slowed with a flat tire bringing out a caution, giving the lead to Angelicchio. Blair changed his tire and returned to action at the tail of the field. Angelicchio opened up a lead, while Longbreak, Double and Shane Hitt battled for second. By lap 10 Angelicchio had a straight-a -way lead, and now Pegher moved into contention and was up to sixth. Blair was also moving up from the tail and was knocking on the top ten by lap 14. On lap 15 the running order was Angelicchio, Longbreak, Hitt, Mark Moats, Pegher, and Double, with Blair up to 9th. On lap 16 Hitt moved into second, with Pegher now 4th. Pegher moved into second on lap 18, and set out after Angelicchio, with Hitt in third followed by Longbreak, Double, Blair, Moats and Rick Meglaye. Pegher ran Angelicchio down and began to put some pressure on him by lap 20. On lap 23, Pegher made his move and got under Angelicchio in turns one and two, but Angelicchio kept his momentum up on the high side and kept the lead going down the backstraight. On the last lap Pegher made one last run at Angelicchio, on the bottom, but Angelicchio moved down also and blocked his move and held on for the win. Pegher was second followed by Longbreak, Hitt, Blair, Mike Reft, Steve Dixon, Colton Flinner, Double, and Chris Steele. The heat winners were Chris Steele, Shane Hitt, Max Blair, and Rick Meglaye, with Mike Pegher Jr., winning the B-Main, Justin Lamb winning the Wheelman race, and Lauren Longbreak winning the Futures race over Shane Weaver, Chad Wright, Ryan Montgomery, and Damian Bidwell.

The Miley RV Service UMP Modifieds had Colerain OH's Bruce Takach win his third feature of the season. Takach started 6th and took the lead off Kari Gasser on lap 10 and romped to the win. Gasser was second followed by Rich Curry, Kevin Miller, Tom Martineck, Chris Basich, Vince Laboon, George Nicola and Denny Nakutis. The heats saw Bruce Takach and Chris Basich pick up the wins.

Jake Simmons, McKees Rocks PA picked up his 5th feature of the season in a wild Sunoco Race Fuels DIRTcar Cadet feature. Three time winner Nick Kocuba grabbed the lead at the start of the 15 lap event and opened up a big lead and was looking like he was going to pick up win #4. But a lap 10 caution changed the complexion of the race, putting 10th starting Simmons right beside him in second and 9th starting Pat Weldon in third. On the restart Kocuba still had the lead, but Simmons and Weldon were right beside him coming across the line three wide. On lap 12 Simmons and Kocuba tangled coming off turn four, putting Simmons in the lead, Weldon in second, with Kocuba back to third. Simmons led lap 13, with Weldon hot on his tail and Kocuba right behind. Weldon got by Simmons the next lap to lead lap 14, but Simmons came back to lead the 15th and most important final lap. At the flag it was Simmons, Weldon, Kocuba, Craig Koteles, Dave Slade, Gary Koteles, Josh Langer, Jesse Gould, Steve Pyeritz, and Jameson Stumper. Jake Simmons also won the heat.

It looked like Dan Duseheid picked up his first win of the season, but was D.Q.ed in tech, giving the win to Robinson Township PA's Ricky Steigerwald in the Miley BP Car Wash DIRTcar Hobby Stocks. Steigerwald took the lead at the start, and led the first 5 laps before Duseheid grabbed the lead on lap 6. Last week's winner Joe Podolinsky led the next 5 laps, before Duseheid led the last two, with Steigerwald right behind. So at the finish it was Steigerwald, Ed Wiser, Richard Wilson, Joe Podolinsky, Hannah Ramsey, O'Patchen, Robby Torrens, Chase Evans, Ian Tomei and Duseheid. Ian Tomei won the heat.

The Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns had a new winner, in Pittsburgh PA's Bernie Blair. Blair took the lead off Alec Broniszewski on the next to last lap and went on to his first ever win. Broniszewski was second followed by Todd Weldon, Zack Stehle, Logan Crewl, and Danielle?.

Upcoming at PPMS on July 9th is the Zoomerang, With the ARDC Midgets in their first appearance at the track since 1987. Plus it is Twin State Racing Club Night, and a complete regular show. On July 16th it's a regular show with Kid's Bike Races. Regular shows consist of Super Late Models, Fastrak Crate Lates, E-Mods, Cadets, Hobby Stocks, and Young Guns.
