Nick Dickson Competes with Appalachian Mountain Speedweek

June 15, 2011 (Lewistown, PA) Nick Dickson of Lewistown, PA and Nick Dickson Racing spent the first full week of June on the road with the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek presented by CenturyLink. The mini-series stretched across the Appalachian region starting at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD on Saturday, June 4 and ended on Friday, June 10 at Bedford Speedway located in Bedford, PA.

Nick started the week long journey with a 19th place finish at Hagerstown and followed that finish up with a 15th place run at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA on Sunday, June 5. Dickson timed in 15th quick out of the 46 cars that entered the Monday, June 6 event at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA and went on to win his heat race putting him in the redraw for the $5,000 to-win feature event. Nick battled his way to a ninth place finish when all was said and done.

The speedweek continued on Tuesday, June 7 at the historic Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA where Dickson had mechanical issues early in the event relegating him to a 24th place finish. Nick, who was looking for redemption the next night at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA, was scored with 22nd place finish in the final rundown. Dickson duplicated that finish on Thursday, June 9 at Port Royal Speedway. Nick's speedweek ended at Bedford Speedway on Friday, June 10 with a solid tenth place finish. 'We tried a lot of different things throughout the week to find speed but could never put everything together,' Dickson mentioned, 'we made every show which was one of our goals; we would have liked to have had a few more strong finishes but it was a great learning experience for us and I think what we learned throughout the week will help us the rest of the season.'

Nick and the Dickson Race team will take this upcoming weekend, June 17 and 18, off to regroup from seven races in seven nights and return to action on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 for a Three State Flyers double-header at Hagerstown Speedway and Winchester Speedway. $3,000 will go to the winner of both events that are dubbed as the 'Red Nininger Memorial'.

Nick Dickson and the Nick Dickson Race Team would like to thank their 2011 sponsors: Dickson's Alignment, Dickson's Exhaust, Speedwrapz, Hershey Racing Engines, JNJ Motorsports Media, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Jake's Custom Carts, Frankland Racing Supply, Cizmar Racing, Simpson, and GW Performance.
