DART CORN BELT CLASH SEASON OPENER AT INDEPEDENCE POSTPONED Heavy rains force third cancellation of the season for Late Model series
By Tom Lathen Independence, IA - Tonight’s Dart Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series season opener at Independence Motor Speedway was called off because of heavy rains.
Storms moved through the area shortly after 6 o’clock dumping over an inch and a half of rainfall on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds facility.
Tonight’s cancellation was the third consecutive CBC event to fall to unfavorable weather this spring. Earlier events at Elko Speedway and Deer Creek Speedway, both in southern Minnesota also had to be postponed because of weather.
According to series founder and Director Cam Granger, tonight’s event at Independence will be rescheduled.
“We are working on finding a date that will work to get the show rescheduled,” commented Granger. “We’re hoping to be able to announce a reschedule date in the next week or two.”
Next up on the Dart Corn Belt Clash schedule is the annual Alphabet Soup Race at Nebraska Raceway Park near Greenwood, Nebraska. The popular event is scheduled for May 29 at the high-banked 4/10 mile eastern Nebraska facility.
