Bobby Labonte Racing Collects a Top-10 Finish at 34 Raceway Team Earns the Fastest Qualifier Award and a Heat Race Win
Trinity, N.C. (May 17) - Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) collected another top-10 finish this past Friday night at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa against a stout field of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors.
Brad Neat started off the night on a positive note when he was able to push his Red Buck Cigars Chevrolet to Fastest Qualifier in Group B. With such an outstanding qualifying run, Neat started on the pole in the third heat race. From the drop of the green flag, Neat was untouchable as he went on to win his respective heat race.
With the heat race win, Neat started on the outside pole in the main event. When the green was shown, Neat led the first lap before being overtaken by Steve Francis. Neat was unable to stay in the top-five, but finished a strong eighth. The top-10 run was Neat's third of the season with the LOLMDS.
"Our Longhorn Chassis was pretty good since we unloaded here at 34 Raceway," said Neat "I want to thank all of my sponsors especially Red Buck Cigars. We wanted to stay up front, but this is tough competition here. This was still a good night here at this track for us."
Earl Pearson Jr. began the night with a solid qualifying run that placed him in the same heat race as his teammate Neat. Just like Neat, Pearson Jr. was able to race his Lucas Oil Dodge to the front and finish in the third position.
With the third place finish, Pearson Jr. started on the outside of the fifth row for the feature. Pearson Jr. finished in the 19th position after a mechanical failure in the feature.
On Saturday, BLR made the trip to Lasalle Speedway in Lasalle, Illinois for another $10,000 to win event. Mother Nature did not cooperate with the LOLMDS on this night as the racing program was postponed due to rain. The event was rescheduled for Tuesday, September 27.
Next up for BLR is a trip to the Batesville (Ark.) Motor Speedway in Locust Grove for the Bad Boy 98. Batesville has always been a favorite for BLR with good finishes coming every time the team travels to the Arkansas facility.
