Scott James an Impressive Runner-Up in My Old Kentucky Home Shootout; Brownstown Next(BRIGHT, INDIANA) Scott James and the #81 Riggs Motorsports team invaded the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky on Saturday evening, April 30 for the annual running of the 'My Old Kentucky Home Shootout.' The World of Outlaws Late Model Series rolled into the 1/2-mile speedplant to sanction the one-day, $10,000 to win program. Scott sported a very fast Rocket racecar throughout the night and started by laying down the fastest lap of the 42 entrants during the WOOLMS qualifying session to grab fast time honors.
The Bright, Indiana native then finished second in his stacked heat race behind Josh Richards and later drew the number two pill prior to the 50-lap main event. After rolling off from the outside of the front row, Scott fell back to fourth early in the race, but methodically picked off Mike Jewell for the third spot and eventually Josh Richards for the second position on lap 37. The driver known as the "Silver Shark" then targeted leader Darrell Lanigan, but came up just shy of his first career World of Outlaws victory, as he finished in the second spot. “It was a great night at Bardstown for the entire Riggs Motorsports team,” quoted James this week. “Of course I wanted to win my first World of Outlaws race, but second place against that caliber of competition is nothing to complain about. We had a great car and our harder tire selection allowed us to catch Darrell (Lanigan) and Josh (Richards) towards the end of the race. Hopefully, we can keep finishing in the top five and those wins will eventually fall our way!”
Scott will look to break through with his first win of the year this Saturday night, May 7 at the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. Weather pending, the 1/4-mile, semi-banked fairgrounds venue will play host to the $2,500 to win ‘Lee Fleetwood Memorial.’ The 13th annual running of the event will follow the rules and regulations of the UMP DIRTcar Series.
