Gary Christian Sets Sights on Batesville & West Plains

Broken Bow, OK (04/20/11) – After scoring a pair of top five finishes in his last outing, Gary Christian will take his #33x Pannell Chipping/LCM Cedar Fiber/Mastersbilt/Pro Power Super Late Model into battle this weekend in a pair of CCSDS Vs. MARS Super Late Model events in Arkansas and Missouri.

The team made the trek to Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) on Friday night for the season opener for the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) tour. Gary has enjoyed strong runs at the facility in the past, and Friday night would be another good one for the 17 year-old driver. With 26 Super Late Models entered, Gary advanced from the sixth starting spot to a second place finish in his heat race to earn the sixth starting spot for the 35 lap, $2,000 to win feature. Early in the feature, Gary would slip as far back as the eighth position before beginning to utilize the high groove to his advantage as he began to march back through the field. Late in the race he would find himself as high as the fourth position before slipping to a still solid fifth place finish at the checkered flag behind winner, Allen Murray, Austin Rettig, Jon Mitchell, and Wendell Wallace.

For Saturday night, the team made the short trek across I-40 to Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) for another CCSDS, $2,000 to win event. In heat race action Christian was battling for a transfer spot, when he inadvertently spun, forcing him to the tail of the pack. As a result, he would be relegated to running a b-main event, where he finished in the second position to earn the 15th starting spot for the 35 lap feature. In the main event on a slick, 1/4 mile Gary would pilot his #58x Mastersbilt to a fifth place finish for the second night in a row. He followed race winner, Austin Rettig, Billy Moyer Jr., Johnny Virden, and Jamie Dacus across the line. Gary is currently in second in the latest CCSDS points. Full weekend results are available at www.COMPDirt.com .

This weekend Christian will travel to Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) on Friday, April 22nd for a $2,000 to win/$300 to start event and to West Plains Motor Speedway (West Plains, Missouri) on Saturday, April 23rd for a $3,000 to win/$400 to start event. Both events are co-sanctioned by the CCSDS and MARS Super Late Model tours.
