Marlar gets Top Five at Smoky Mountain; Resumes Lucas Oil Schedule Winfield, Tennessee (04/18/11) – Mike Marlar is the latest addition to the MSRMafia.com Team and has launched a brand new website at
www.MikeMarlar.net .
Mike, who has been racing for 16 years, pilots the #36 Wells Motorsports/Warrior/Custom Racing Engine Super Late Model on the highly competitive, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) tour. He currently sits sixth in the tour standings. When not entering LOLMDS point's events, Marlar enters various Super Late Model events across the country. In 2010, Marlar amassed ten feature wins including his second $25,000 Magnolia State 100 title at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). He is also the winningest driver in the history of the Battle of the Bluegrass tour.
Last Saturday Mike made the last minute decision to enter the $5,000 to win, Southern All Stars Super Late Model event at Smoky Mountain Raceway (Maryville, Tennessee). Twenty-seven Super Late Models entered the event, and in qualifications, Marlar was fifth fastest to lock into the fifth starting spot for the main event. Early in the event, Mike would advance to the fourth spot before slipping one spot to a fifth place finish at the checkered flag behind event winner, Jimmy Owens, Ray Cook, Billy Ogle Jr., and William Thomas.
Mike is unsure if he will enter any events this coming weekend, April 22nd-23rd, but he will definitely be returning to action on Friday, April 28th with the LOLMDS at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pennsylvania) for a $10,000 to win event before entering another $10,000 to win, LOLMDS program on Saturday, April 29th at Roaring Knob Motorplex (Markleysburg, Pennsylvania).
