Bobby Labonte Racing Prepares for First Dirt Appearance in Texas
Lonestar Speedway to Host Lucas Oil Event

Trinity, N.C. (March 29, 2011) - Bobby Labonte is no stranger to the state of Texas. It is where the Corpus Christi-native started his racing career. Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR), a two-car dirt late model team owned by Labonte, however, will be making their first start in the state. The team will compete in this weekend's $20,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, Tex. The trip is also the first event for the Lucas Oil Series in Texas.

BLR is coming off a pair of successful races. Earl Pearson Jr. and the No. 44 Lucas Oil team finished seventh at the Columbus Speedway in Mississippi in a World of Outlaws sanctioned event two weeks ago. The same weekend, Brad Neat and the No. 41 Red Buck Cigars team made their way from their 13th-place starting position to finish eighth at the Volunteer Speedway in Bull Gap, Tenn.

"Our finish at Volunteer Speedway was what we needed after our trip to Volusia," said Neat. "I really like these high-banked tracks like Volunteer and Lonestar, as my team has my car set up well for them."

The pair of top- 10 runs for BLR came at race tracks very similar to the one they will be competing at this weekend. Lonestar Speedway is a fast, high-banked, three-eighths mile oval located two hours east of Dallas, Tex.

"These new cars really handle well around the high-banked tracks," said Pearson Jr. "After our run at Columbus, I'm anxious to get back into the driver's seat and compete against the Lucas Oil Series drivers."

BLR will able to showcase its new Longhorn Chassis to a seating capacity of nearly 10,000 fans that have never seen the Lucas Oil Series or BLR.

"This is a great opportunity for us to display our new cars to a completely new group of fans and racers," said Jason Fitzgerald, BLR Team Manager. "We're looking for a repeat of two weekends ago with a pair of top-10 runs again."

Thursday, March 31st, will be an open practice session for drivers in attendance. Friday, April 1st will consist of Red Buck Cigars Qualifying and heat race action for the Lucas Oil Series. Then on Saturday, April 2nd, the Lucas Oil Series drivers will run their B-mains and the 100 lap, $20,000-to-win feature.
