Scott James Impressive Runner-Up in Spring 50; Eyes Indiana Icebreaker this Weekend

(BRIGHT, INDIANA)  The "Silver Shark" Scott James made his 2011 season debut with the Riggs Motorsports team on Saturday night, March 19 at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky!  The 35th Annual 'Spring 50' was on tap at the Cincinnati area venue and a $5,000 top prize was on the line. Aboard the Clearwave Communications / Murphy Motorsports / JFR Graphics.com #81 Rocket / Jay Dickens entry, Scott qualified good enough to earn a front row starting spot in one of the three heat races.

He ran a great race in the prelim and took the checkers first to garner the pole position for the 50-lap main event.  In front of a large crowd in the 'Spring 50,' Scott took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led the early stages of the race.  He was then in the second position when he hooked the inside berm between turns one and two, resulting in an unfortunate spin.  After restarting at the tail end of the stout field, the Bright, Indiana native sliced and diced his way back through the competition to earn an impressive runner-up finish behind only winner Eddie Carrier, Jr.

“We had a really good run to start our 2011 season last Saturday at Florence,” exclaimed James this week.  “The car was fast all night long and the motor ran great.  We went a little softer on tire in the feature than some of those guys including Eddie (Carrier, Jr.), but when I went to the back of the field after that spin, the soft tires definitely helped me there.  I would have loved to win in my first night with Riggs Motorsports, but a second place finish isn’t a bad start.  I really have to thank Scott Riggs and everyone associated with this team for their support and we’ll try hard for another great run this weekend at Brownstown!”

The newly-formed #81 team will look to continue its hot start this Saturday night, March 26 at the historic Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. Weather pending, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the annual running of the ‘Indiana Icebreaker’ on Saturday at the 1/4-mile fairgrounds complex and a $10,000 winner’s check is on the line.  A full program of qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and the 50-lap feature event will try to heat up what looks to be a chilly night in the Hoosier State.  Additional information on the ‘Indiana Icebreaker’ can be located by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

Scott James and the Riggs Motorsports team would like to thank the following group of sponsors for their continued support:  Clearwave Communications, Murphy Motorsports, JFR Graphics, Rocket Chassis, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, A-1 Technologies, Bert Transmission, Beyea Headers, Braswell Carburetion, Dan Olson Racing Products, Delph Communications, Dyer’s Top Rods, Goodridge, GW Performance, Hoosier Racing Tires, Integra Shocks, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Jones Racing Products, Performance Bodies, Peterson Fluid Systems, R2C Performance, VP Race Fuels, Weld Wheels, Wiles Driveshafts, Wilwood Engineering
