Jason Moyle takes podium finish in West Australia Late Model State Title

Since getting the new Rayburn on the track Jason Moyle has shown plenty of potential, it was just a matter of time before the results started to show. In Western Australia possibly the biggest meeting is the Late Model State Title and Jason would stand on the podium with a third.

“Finishing on the podium in the state title is huge for us” said an elated Moyle.

The final result would start to take shape in the very first heat for the team. Starting heat race one out of position six, the Bunbury charger worked his way forward to second on a very racey track. With a couple of laps to go Ben Ludlow left the door open and Jason slipped by and took the win.

Heat two would see the Moyle Race Engine/Rayburn Chassis start back in eighth, with the track becoming slick moving forward would be a challenge. Despite this Moyle would move up to fifth, then some good luck would come into play for the team when two cars in front of Jason were forced to retire.

For the final qualifying heat of the night Jason would start on pole with Michael “The Hammer” Hamon on his outside. At the green light the Valvoline sponsored Rayburn got the jump and started to build a small gap, this would be to no avail as a late caution would bring the field back together.

The caution didn’t slow Moyle down, he held on to take the win from Ryan Halliday. So at the end of the three qualifying races Jason had recorded two wins and a third, giving himself a front row start for the thirty five lap feature.

“Leading into the feature we made a few changes to the car which we hoped would pay off” explained Jason.

Having the front row start would provide a great opportunity to jump to the lead heading into turn one. Unfortunately pole sitter Craig Vosbergen got the jump, the “Black Knight” Ryan Halliday followed him dropping Jason to third.

Tucking in behind Halliday, Jason went about getting into a rhythm even though the leaders started to pull away. However on the tight confinements of the Collie track as the leading duo hit lapped traffic Jason started to catch back up.

As they passed through the traffic there was a scare for the team as Moyle made contact with a lapped car which forced the Rayburn to spin. Once Jason got the car fired again he would restart back in third.

“We were lucky to get away with that one” a relieved Moyle said.

There would be just one more caution left to play out with four laps remaining, this would just be a formality for the team and four laps later Jason crossed the line in third.

“To come away from the State Title with a third is awesome, I can’t thank the guys enough. All the hard work was done in the heat races and we made the right calls at the right in terms of set up and had a good car come feature time” said Jason.

The team will now turn their focus to the next round of the R2C Competition Series Filter Pro Dirt Series round at the Perth Motorplex on April the 2nd.

Jason Moyle would like to thank his sponsors for their continued support.
