(March 8, 2011) - Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) is heading back to the "Super Bowl of Racing" this weekend at Golden Isles Speedway (GIS) in Rome, Ga., This event was first scheduled to be run on February 4 and 5, but due to very heavy rains, the staff at GIS was forced to postpone the event until March 11 and 12. Both nights will be paying $10,000 to win.
The No. 41 Red Buck Cigars Chevrolet of Brad Neat is coming off of a triumphant run at the DART Winternationals. Neat was also able to win three heat races at East Bay out of the five he entered. He also won the "Red Buck Cigars Fastest Qualifier Award" on opening night at East Bay. Then, the very next night after the DART Winternationals, BLR headed to O'Cala Speedway where Neat yet again won his heat race.
The No. 44 Lucas Oil Dodge of Earl Pearson Jr. is also coming off a successful Speedweeks. Pearson Jr. was able to bring home four top-10 finishes in six events at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. The highlight of Speedweeks for Pearson Jr. was the first night in which he was able to win his respective heat race then finish in a very close second in the feature.
"We are very happy to have them coming to both events," said Kelley Carlton, CEO of KELCAR Motorsports, which will put on the show at Golden Isles. "Earl and Brad are both top-caliber racers that always bring excitement when they are on the track. Both of them are just super-nice guys who always take time with their fans. That really means a lot in this sport. Earl has a ton of fans in the area, too, so that will certainly be a plus for him having the hometown crowd on his side".
Comments from Jason Fitzgerald on the "Super Bowl of Racing": "We are still waiting on a motor to get back for Brad Neat and his crew (Neat had two engine failures at Volusia), but expect it to be here on time to go this weekend. Both Brad and Earl run well there, so, we are ready to get down there, get back to racing, and have a successful weekend. Earl has a lot of fans from this area, especially with him being just a short distance down the road in Jacksonville. He'll be going into this weekend as the hometown favorite.
"We are still tweaking our new Longhorn Chassis, but in the short time we have raced them this season, they prove to be a brand that can be very successful. We are excited to get back to work with them and learn even more. It's going to be nice to get back on the road and go race. This is a race we've won in the past and hopefully we can get another win this weekend."
