Ray Moore Claims Biggest Career Win in Pelican 100

Haughton, Louisiana (03/03/11) – Ray Moore has won dozens of races as well as a few championships in his young career, but on Saturday night at Ark-La-Tex Speedway he made history as he claimed his biggest win to the tune of $10,000 in the Childress Fishing & Rentals Pelican 100.

Ray entered familiar territory over the weekend as he entered the 1st annual Childress Fishing & Rentals Pelican 100 at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). Despite only racing at the track a couple of times, Moore has done a great deal of testing at the facility and considers it his home track. In time trials on Friday night, Moore turned the fourth fastest lap overall to earn the pole position for the fourth heat, which he won to lock into the fourth starting spot for Saturday night's 100 lap, $10,000 to win event.

In Saturday's feature, Ray would find himself slipping back a few spots in the early stages of the event, but as the race progressed his car began to come to him and by lap 75 he was catching the front-runners and took the lead on lap 79 before caution waved to force him back to the second spot. The next restart would see leader, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, spin as the caution waved again giving the lead to Moore. On the next restart, Moore's tires would be slow to fire, and he would see Bub McCool and David Breazeale race past him as he slipped to the third spot. However, Ray would not give up and used the low groove to catch the top two cars over the closing laps, and on the white flag lap Moore would inch ahead for good to claim the win by a car length over Bub McCool and David Breazeale. The $10,000 payday was the richest of Moore's young career! Full results are available at www.ArkLaTexSpeedway.com .

Ray will take his momentum into action this Saturday, March 5th as he enters the $3,500 to win, Texas Dirt Track Championship at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track (Justin, Texas). The event will be sanctioned by the O'Reilly SUPR Super Late Model tour, and will feature heat races, b-mains, and the main event.
