Moyle rallies to top five until contact ends R2C Pro night at Albany

Albany’s Atwell Park was the place to be on Saturday night if you’re a Late Model fan, as they held round eleven of the Western Australian R2C Pro Dirt Late Model Series. Jason Moyle and the team were part of a twenty car field that fronted for this event, that almost didn’t get underway due to rain.

Once the meeting did get underway Jason showed the speed he had from Kwinanna that got him from 14th to fifth was going to allow him to be a contender, unfortunately during the feature he had a coming together with another car which forced him to watch the race from the infield.

Starting the first heat race out of position five gave the Bunbury racer every opportunity to challenge for the win, but as the race got under way Jason dropped a spot to sit in sixth. After settling down Moyle went to work on gaining as many positions as possible. On a track surface that was hooky and fast helped Jason make his way back up to third behind Brad Ludlow and Brad Blake.

In the second and final heat race the Moyle Engines/Rayburn would start alongside Michael Holmes in position two. By the time the chequered flag fell, Jason Moyle had shown that he would be a contender later in the night by claiming the win.

At the end of the heat racing Moyle had gained enough points to once again start out of position two in the A-Dash. Unfortunately the team missed the set up and had the car a bit too loose and dropped back to finish sixth.

It was now time for the King of the Ring feature over thirty five laps which would see Jason start sixth. As the field thundered into turn one the #6 Valvoline Rayburn got pushed high which allowed a couple of cars passed putting Jason back to eighth.

Not worried by this as the car was working good, Moyle put his head down to take back those spots. While trying to make a pass on seventh place when a car in turn four had spun, leaving Jason nowhere to go making heavy contact forcing him out with steering damage and a broken shock.

“It is a disappointing way to end the night as we showed great speed, we were looking at a good result” Jason said shortly after the feature.

The team will now repair the damage ready to head to Collie for the Western Australian Title.
