Keith Barbara’s 2010 Season Comes to an End, Excitement Builds for 2011South Park, PA (November 3, 2010) Keith Barbara and the Forbes Field Motorsports team closed out their 2010 season with events at Allegany County Speedway in Cumberland, MD and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markelysburg, PA in which he debuted a brand new MastersBilt GEN X by Huey chassis.
‘The new Mastersbilt, so far, has been something that really fits my driving style,’ Keith said from his shop in Pittsburgh. ‘We’ve had it out a few times here at the end of the year and it has been very fast. I’m extremely happy with the car and are pretty disappointed that the season is coming to an end. But on the other hand, we are super excited for next year. We can’t wait to get back at it.’
Keith’s official debut of the new car came at Allegany County Speedway for the Unified Force Race Championship (UFO) sanctioned ‘Big Kahuna’. After getting caught up in an accident in his heat race, Barbara won his B-Main by a considerable margin to transfer to the A-Main. Keith was able to work his way up to the 14th spot on a surface that was hard to pass on to give him a four point lead in the UFO standings over Chad McClellan going into the series’ final event.
The final UFO event was the following weekend at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex where Keith would win his heat race in dominating fashion and draws the number two starting spot for the feature event. Barbara jumped out to a commanding lead early in the event and led the first 14 laps before relinquishing the lead to Rob Blair. Keith fell back to third by lap 23 and then disaster struck on lap 35 when the rear-end let loose ending his night with a 20th place finish. The 20th place finish coupled with McClellan’s 16th place finish, left Keith one point short of his first UFO Championship.
Keith made his final start on Saturday, October 23rd, again at Roaring Knob for a season ending $2,000 to-win show. Barbara again got off to a fast start as he led from the beginning but on lap 10, Barbara lost a transmission in his new Mastersbilt by Huey mount relegating him to a 17th place finish.
‘The car has just been fabulous and we’re thrilled to be working with Huey and the rest of the Mastersbilt team,’ Keith quipped. ‘We’re looking into expanding our schedule next year and to do that you need to have good equipment and sponsorship. We’re still looking for additional sponsorship for the 2011 season to help boost our program to where we can do some more traveling. That’s just another thing we’re excited for in 2011.’ Anyone interested in becoming a partner with Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports can call their shop at (412) 471-2221.
