Jimmy Mars Storms to Viking Fall Classic Triumph at Alexandria

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and the Mars Racing team visited victory lane for the eighth time in 2010 over the October 8-9 weekend at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, Minnesota! Jimmy started off his weekend in the Gopher State by notching a fourth place finish in his heat race on Friday night, which locked him into Saturday's main event.

During the course of the 40-lap 'Viking Fall Classic,' Jimmy sliced and diced his way through the field from his eighteenth starting position and took the top spot around the halfway point. The Menomonie, Wisconsin native cruised the rest of the race to record the $4,000 triumph over Lance Matthees, Marshall Fegers, Jeff Wildung, and Zach Johnson. "We got buried pretty deep in the field after preliminary night on Friday, but I had an excellent car for the feature on Saturday," exclaimed Mars this week. "I don't have a lot of laps around that place and haven't been there a lot recently, but my crew made the right adjustments to the car throughout the weekend. The track was in pretty good shape and I was able to race around it to make my way up through the field."

Following the win at Alexandria, the #28 team has elected to take the upcoming October 15-16 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. Jimmy and the team are slated to return to action on October 22-23 at the Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi. The 16th Annual 'Fall Classic' will be held at Whynot next weekend and a $15,000 winner's check will be on the line.
