After a two week break to freshen his equipment Eric will travel to Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Misssissippi) this weekend for the 21st Annual Magnolia State 100. Eric Cooley was last in action over the Labor Day weekend as he took part in two big events with the NeSmith National Late Model Series in Mississippi. On Friday and Saturday, Eric entered the $5,000 to win event at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi). On Friday night time trials were held for the 38 car field, and Cooley laid down the 14th fastest time to earn the fourth starting position for a heat race. Eric would race his way to a 4th place finish in heat race action, which locked him into the 14th starting position for Saturday night's 75 lap finale. In the $5,000 to win feature, Eric methodically worked his way through the pack, and by the time that the checkered flag dropped on the event, he was shown with a fourth place finish behind winner, Larry Harrod, Mike Boland, and Larry Murphy.
Sunday night, September 5th found Cooley Motorsports in the familiar confines of Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for a $2,000 to win, NeSmith National Late Model Series event. Via time trials and qualifier action, Eric started 13th in the feature event grid. For the second straight night, Cooley would work his way through the pack and would get as high as the third position before slipping back one spot to a fourth place finish behind event winner, Mike Boland, Jeremy Shaw, and Chip Brindle.
Eric and everyone at Cooley Motorsports would like to thank all of their sponsors, which include 78 Towing & Recovery Inc., Cooley Transport Inc., Twisted Designs (Fayette, AL), GW Performance, MSRMafia.com, Victory Circle By Moyer, and Simpson Race Products.
