NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 26 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE, GA – There will be just one NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series event on the Week 26 schedule with double feature races on tap in the West Region for Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS on Saturday night.

Most NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks will be taking the week off due to the Magnolia State 100 at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS and the Alabama State Championship Races at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.

There has been a point adjustment made in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region due to a car-count issue last Saturday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park. Series officials have determined that less than eight cars attempted to compete, giving race winner Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS 40 points instead of 50.

With the 40-point victory, Keeton, the defending and three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion, failed to net any points, and his point total remains at 940 points, five points behind West Region point leader Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS.

There are still six possible point races left in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region season that ends on October 2 according to track web sites. In addition to the double features this Saturday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park, the track will host another double feature event on October 1.

Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will have a double feature event on October 2. West Region point races are also scheduled on October 2 for Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Stokes can still have a “perfect season” of 950 points with three more wins. A perfect season consists of 16 50-point wins against fields of eight or more cars and 150 bonus points for competing at six NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events. Stokes can still net points on his best 16 finishes, as he has a 48-point third-place finish, and three 49-point second-place finishes.

Keeton can still net on two 48s, and four 49s which would give him the potential of earning 948 points with six 50-point victories. Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is third in the West Region standings with 926 points, and can still net on a 41, a 44, a 46, and three 49s for a potential total of 948 points with six 50-point wins. Cliff Williams of Star, MS is fourth with 921 points and can still net on two 41s, two 47s, and two 49s for a potential total of 947 with six 50-point wins.

The top four drivers in the West Region standings are competing for the top three point-fund paying spots. The West Region Champion will receive a $1,500 cash award and a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine. The West Region Runner-Up will receive a $1,000 cash award, and the third-place West Region driver will receive a $500 cash award.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL has won the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Championship, which Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL taking the second spot, and Ryan King of Anniston, AL has clinched the third spot. The final NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point event will be held on October 2 at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Dirt Late Models are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. The 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine costs $5,295 and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine costs $3,295 and gets a 150 pound weight break.

These engines are in stock for free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeastern United States at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA, the nation’s number one GM Powertrain Dealer. To place an order, call Tim Bland toll-free at 1-877-497-3624. There is no waiting for an engine at NeSmith Chevrolet. You can buy it today, and race it tomorrow.
