Billy Moyer Jr. Gets Biggest Win of His Career; World 100 NextBatesville, Arkansas – Billy Moyer Jr. is coming off a weekend where he drove his #21jr Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to a pair of top five finishes.
Billy entered the first night of the weekend Isle of Capri Late Model Series, double header at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas). Via passing points, Billy would start eighth in the feature and would race his way to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Jeff Floyd, Richie Tosh, and Bill Frye.
Saturday night would find Jr. Motorsports once again in action at Batesville Motor Speedway with the Isle of Capri Late Model Series. After winning his heat race, Billy started fourth in the feature. During the course of the $2,000 to win event, Moyer Jr. advanced to a third place finish behind event winner, Bill Frye, and Jeff Taylor. Despite not competing in all of the events, Billy finished fourth in the final standings.
Sunday night saw Billy make history in two different ways as he won his first event at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) and also won the biggest payday of his career to the tune of $5,000 in the 6th Annual Bama Brawl. With 32 Super Late Models on hand, Billy qualified fastest in his group to earn the outside front row starting spot alongside David Breazeale for the 50 lap feature event. Early in the feature, Moyer Jr. would slip back as far as the third spot before moving back up to the second spot as the event surpassed the tenth lap. Billy would chase Breazeale for the next several laps, but would see himself fall back to fourth on lap 35 as Tim Busha Anthony Burroughs moved by for the second and third positions respectively. Four laps later the caution would wave as Busha spun in turn four after contact with Breazeale as they battled for the lead. On the ensuing double file restart, Moyer Jr. used the highside to race past Burroughs and Breazeale to take over the lead. He would never look back as he led the last eleven laps to claim the $5,000 win! The victory was his seventh of the season.
This weekend, September 10th-11th, Jr. Motorsports will take their “A-Game” to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the 40th Annual World 100. Billy made his debut at the event back in June at the Dream 100, and qualified well, but struggled in heat race action causing him to miss the show. He will look for a stronger outing in his second attempt at the facility this weekend in the $43,000 to win event. Friday night will see time trials and non-qualifier races held, while Saturday will see heat race action along with consolation events, and the 100 lap finale.
