Ponderosa Speedway Cancels September 17; Season Championship/Fan Appreciation Night Next on September 24

Junction City, KY- September 6, 2010- Ponderosa Speedway track promoters Donnie Sullivan and family will have “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” closed this Friday September 10 for the World 100 and have also cancelled the racing program scheduled for Friday September 17.

However, there will be test and tune practice sessions taking place on September 10 and September 17. The pit area will open at 4:00 p.m., with practice laps scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Pit admission for the test and tune practice sessions will be $10.

The next scheduled event at Ponderosa Speedway will be Season Championship/Fan Appreciation Night on Friday September 24. The race format that evening will feature time trials for all divisions, but it will be feature events only that night as all four weekly divisions (Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman) will compete in 40 lap Season Championship main events, with added money in all divisions that will be announced soon. The Street Stock and Front Wheel Drive divisions will also be in action, with Street Stocks racing for $150 to win and Front Wheel Drives racing for $75 to win. It will also be double track points for the four weekly divisions in their respective Season Championship feature events. There will also be a Mechanics race that evening for the men and women that turn the wrenches on the race cars. There will be a $25 entry fee for all four weekly divisions on Season Championship night that evening.

On the Fan Appreciation Night side of things, adult general admission will be only $5 on September 24 and all children ages 12 will be admitted free. Also, after time trials that evening, the drivers will pull their race cars out on the racetrack and the race fans will be allowed to come down onto the track and chat with their favorite drivers, get autographs, take photographs, and get to be up close and personal with the racers.

Ponderosa Speedway last raced on September 3 and feature event winners that evening included Zac Blackwood of Columbus, IN in Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, David Webb of Nicholasville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Jeremy Hines of Seymour, IN in D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, Shane Lafollette of Hodgenville, KY in Street Stocks, and David Barron of Eubank, KY in Front Wheel Drives.

Ponderosa Speedway is located just off of 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Donnie and Angie Sullivan, along with their son Donnie, Jr., are the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings throughout the remainder of the 2010 race season.
