CHASE EDGE CLINCHES NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS EAST REGION TITLE

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL has clinched the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Championship. The 17-year-old high school Senior finished second on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on Saturday night, where he also secured the 2010 Late Model Track Championship.

Edge then traveled to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS and picked up 25 bonus points on Sunday night in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event to bring his point total to 936 based on his best 16 finishes and 150 Regional bonus points.

Edge’s closest competitor Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL did not compete on Monday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, which took him out of the running for the title and sealed the deal for Edge.

If Nowell ran every NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series event available, according the East Region track’s web sites, he would total 935 points. According to the track’s web sites there are three East Region events left in the 2010 season that ends on October 3, and Nowell would have to win all three races.

Edge has driven the Edge’s Gas Company Mastersbilt in 30 races posting six wins, 28 top five finishes and 29 top ten finishes. Edge’s point total also includes his full allotment of 150 bonus points for competing in six NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events. He picked up his final 25 bonus points on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway.
