Labor Day Weekend takes Deery Series to Quincy, Donnellson, Boone

QUINCY, Ill. (Aug. 30) – Three races over the course of four nights during the upcoming holiday weekend will go a long way toward sorting out Deery Brothers Summer Series point standings.

The IMCA Late Model tour travels to Quincy Raceway to make up the $3,000 to win Titan Wheel and Tire special on Friday, Sept. 3. Night two is at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, where 15 local drivers are eli­gible to boost their share of the purse from $2,000 to $5,000 with a Saturday, Sept. 4. Win.

Opening night at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals at Boone Speedway is Monday, Labor Day, Sept. 6. The complete Deery Series program will run along with qualifying events for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Quincy. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. A minimum of $300 will be paid to start; IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will run for national, Probe Racing Northern Region and Allstar Performance State points.

Grandstand admission is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for students ages 11-15 and free for 10 and un­der. More information is available by calling 217 224-4100 or 217 224-3843, and at www.quincyraceways.com.

Late Model drivers competing in at least seven of the eight point races held this season at Lee County are eli­gible to earn an additional $3,000 by winning the Saturday show, through the Ideal Ready Mix/Trump Trucks “Drive For Five” promotion.

Those drivers are Mark Burgtorf, Denny Woodworth, Jeff Aikey, Boone McLaughlin, Keith Pratt, Justin Reed, Gary Russell, Sam Halstead, T.J. Criss, Jeff Guengerich, Tom Goble, Matt Bailey, Rob Toland, Ron Elbe and Jay Chenoweth.

Pit gates and the grandstand at Donnellson both open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase national, regional and state points; Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are in the running for national and state points.

Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $14 for seniors 60 and over, $5 for students ages 11-17 and free fo 10 and under. More information is available at www.leecountyspeedway.com or by calling 319 528-4301.

The Deery feature at Boone pays $2,000 to win. Pit gates open at 10 a.m., the grandstand opens at 1 p.m., hot laps are at 2 p.m. and racing gets underway at 3 p.m. Admission is $15.

The final event of the 24th annual series is Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18 when 34 Raceway at West Bur­lington hosts the $10,000 to win Pepsi USA Nationals.
