NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 22 PREVIEWCARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 22 competition will feature ten races at nine tracks. There will be six races in the West Region and four races in the East Region. The Regional Championships are still up for grabs in both Regions. Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS leads the West Region, and Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL leads the East Region.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region schedule of events begins on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motor Sports Park in Hattiesburg, MS. Saturday night West Region races are set for Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will host double features, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region will present Saturday night events at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
Stokes is in a battle for the West Region championship with three-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS, Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS, Cliff Williams of Star, MS, and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL.
The East Region point battle is a race between Edge and Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL. The race is to see if Edge can earn enough points to clinch the championship, or if Nowell can gain enough points in the next few weeks to stay in the hunt.
Bonus points will come into play on September 3, 4 and 5 for Keeton, Palasini, McRee, Edge, and Nowell when the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour competes at Whynot Motorsports Park on September 3 and 4, and at Magnolia Motor Speedway in September 5. Those eligible drivers can earn 25 needed bonus points by competing in each event.
Stokes, Williams and McRee have earned all of their allotted 150 bonus points. Edge is eligible to earn another 25 bonus points. Keeton and Palasini can earn another 50 bonus points, and Nowell can earn another 75 bonus points.
