For Immediate Release
August 24, 2010
5th Annual Legendary 100 to Conclude 2010 Season at Cedar Lake SpeedwayHistorically, The 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway has produced some of the best racing action in the Midwest featuring the best local talent, a fan friendly format and the area’s largest purse. 2010 will be no different as Cedar Lake Speedway will again deliver September 16th thru 18th.
A few changes in this year’s event include moving from a 4 day event to 3 days and guaranteeing all competitors at least two races each night. Thursday and Friday night will again feature complete shows in each division. “Changing to a 3 day event allows us to concentrate on each night of racing, put less laps on the track and deliver non-stop action Thursday thru Saturday” noted owner Brad Both.
The Legendary 100 weekend kicks off Thursday September 16th with complete shows for Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, Modifieds & Late Models. Drivers will draw for their Heat starting position & passing points along with B-Mains will determine the starting lineup for Thursday’s Feature with that night’s top 8 finishers stacking the inside row for Saturday’s Legendary 100 main event.
Night two, Friday September 17th will again feature complete shows in all four divisions. Drivers will again draw for their Heat starting position & passing points along with B-Mains will determine the starting lineup for Friday’s Feature with the night’s top 8 finishers filling the outside row of Saturday’s Legendary 100 Feature.
Saturday September 18th marks the final night of competition for all four divisions. Non-qualified cars will be lined-up based on accumulated passing points from Thursday and Friday into consolation races to help fill the final 4 rows of the Legendary Feature events.
This upgraded format gives the driver several opportunities to race for the big money on Saturday without alienating drivers that do poorly in their heat. “In past years, drivers that cut down a tire or did not finish their Heat were done for the night. This new format gives everyone another chance each night if they have bad luck in their Heat” mentioned race director Jamie Nutzmann. The Legendary Features Saturday will be 40 laps for Late Models with 30 laps for Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Modifieds.
This exciting format provides nonstop racing action each and every night along with tons of other activities to do at and around the speedway. Fans can expect over 200 cars each night!
NASCAR and CLS track points will be awarded all three nights for Late Models ONLY. However, competitors will not need a NASCAR license to compete this weekend. NASCAR and CLS track points will NOT be awarded for Modifieds, Supers, or Midwest Modifieds and drivers in these divisions do NOT need a NASCAR license to compete at the event. Cedar Lake Speedway will utilize their current track tire rule allowing Hoosier, Goodyear & American Racers. This gives every driver in the area the opportunity to race at Cedar Lake without needing to join or change their car. For rules and more info visit
