Two more Fast Fridays of Fab Four Racing to crown three more Champions Joe Kelley has already clinched his seventh Budweiser Track Championship
Community Night this Thursday, August 19 at the Butler Farm Show Grounds
Sarver, PA (August 18, 2010) With just two more weeks of Fab Four Racing on the 2010 Lernerville Speedway schedule, one Budweiser Track Championship has been clinched, another is almost academic, while two divisions are very much up for grabs!
Last Friday Night, August 13 was another big night for “Super Joe” Kelley. Kelley held off a valiant effort by rising star A.J. Flick to checker his eighth win of the season; bringing his career total to 40 wins at Lernerville Speedway. In winning his eighth Charapp Route 28 DIRTcar Sportsman Feature of the season, Kelly clinched the 2010 Budweiser Track Championship. With two nights remaining, Kelley has an astounding 104 point lead over second place Bob Egley.
Dave Hess Jr. enters this Friday Night’s DIRTcar Late Model action with a 41 point lead over second place Jared Miley and 50 points ahead of Three-Time Defending Track Champion Alex Ferree. If he maintains or increases that margin this Friday Night he will clinch his first career Lernerville Speedway Budweiser Track Championship. A feat his father accomplished in 1980 & 1983.
The Budweiser Points Chase in both the Ti22 Performance DIRTcar Sprints and Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Modifieds is wide open!
The closest points race is in the Ti22 Sprints! Rising star Danny Holtgraver enters Friday Night with a slight seven point lead over Ed Lynch Jr. Holtgraver was running away with the Ti22 Sprint Feature last Friday Night but tangled with a lapped car and came to rest on his side. Lynch, of course, was in Knoxville last weekend, but is still well within striking distance of winning his fifth career Lernerville/Budweiser Track Championship.
Third and fourth place drivers Rod George and Bob Felmlee also fell to the Friday the 13th curse; George broke in his heat and did not start the feature, while Felmlee got bounced off the track in turns three & four while racing in the top five during the feature. Felmlee somehow kept the wheels down and was able to tail the field on the restart, but could only salvage an eighth place finish. Feature winner Jack Sodeman Jr. narrowed the distance on the top four and now just sits 31 points out of the lead.
Last week’s Diehl Mods Feature winner Kevin Bolland stretched his points lead to 34 points over longtime rival Brian Swartzlander. Swartzlander (393) is in a dogfight for second place with Del Rougeux Jr. (391) and Defending Track Champion Jeremiah Shingledecker (390). Four-time feature winner Dave Murdick has not been mathematically eliminated, but has more than a complete night of points to pose a threat to Bolland!
If you can’t wait until Friday Night to satisfy your racing fix, please join us Thursday, August 19 at the Butler Farm Show Grounds for the 5th Annual Community Night in support of State Representative Brian Ellis and the local business community. Fab Four Racing cars & drivers will be on hand to meet & greet their loyal fans!
As mentioned above, just two weeks of Fab Four Racing remain. This Friday, August 20 is also Scout Night. All scouts in uniform will be admitted free of charge! Then next Friday, August 27 is Championship Night presented by Armstrong One Wire! The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints and Late Model Series roll into the Action Track for the “Dual in the Dirt!” on Friday, September 3. Three weeks later, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will return to the Action Track for the Commonwealth Clash on Saturday, September 25. Reserved tickets are on sale now at
