Gary Christian To Enter 18th Annual Topless 100 This Weekend

Broken Bow, OK (08/16/10) – Gary Christian will take his second shot at a COMP Cams Topless 100 this weekend in his #58x Pannell Chipping/LCM Cedar Fiber/GRT/Pro Power Super Late Model.

Gary entered his first COMP Cams Topless 100 event in 2009, and had to take a spec motor to the event. Needless to say he was at a power disadvantage at the 3/8 mile oval, but the 16 year old driver still turned in an impressive performance, and fell just short of qualifying for the main event.

He will look for redemption at this year’s event, which gets underway on Thursday, August 19th with an Open Practice Session. On Friday, August 20th time trials and heat race action will be held, while Saturday, August 21st will see b-mains and the 100 lap finale, which pays $40,000 to win and $2,000 to start. The weekend will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series (LODLMS), and the SPEED TV cameras will be on hand to film all of the action. Last weekend, Gary entered a single event in his home state. After the past month, which has been less than friendly for Gary, he finally got things pointed in the right direction on Friday night at Outlaw Motor Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) in the $3,000 to win MARS sanctioned event. After finishing fourth in his heat race, Gary started 7th in the feature, and would go on to advance to a solid fifth place finish behind event winner, Terry Phillips, Eric Turner, Brandon McCormick, and Raymond Merrill.
