Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series Levies Fines, Suspensions and Disqualifications Following Lab Results from Talladega Short Track

Stacey Holmes of Munford, Alabama and Dingus Griffin of Alexandria, Alabama have each been suspended from Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series competition pending fines and penalties following lab results that indicated the use of chemically altered tires at Talladega Short Track on Saturday July 31st, 2010 during the 13th Annual Michael Head Jr. Memorial.

Multiple tire samples were taken, including samples from event winner Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tennessee. All of the samples were subsequently sent to an independent lab for testing.

According to the lab’s findings, Griffin’s and Holmes’ tire samples contained chemicals that would alter the compounds of the tires. Samples from Johnson’s tires were cleared by the lab.

According to Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series Rules, each driver will be fined $2,500 and will each be suspended for 60 days from all Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series sanctioned events. They will each suffer a 150 point deduction from the current point standings and will forfeit all winnings from Saturday night July 31st. Each driver’s crew chief will also be fined $500. The suspension will begin after satisfactory of all fines and costs of testing have been met.

Driver’s finishing behind Griffin and Holmes on July 31st will receive additional prize money and the current point standings will be adjusted accordingly.
