Ray Cook Takes Tenth Win of 2010 at Cleveland; Prepares for North/South 100

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Brasstown, North Carolina native Ray Cook registered his tenth victory of the 2010 racing season on Saturday night, August 7 at the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee! The Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) rolled into the historic southern Tennessee venue on Saturday to sanction a $3,000 to win showdown. Ray qualified well in SRRS group time trials, which locked him into the fourth starting spot in the A-Main. During the course of the 40-lapper, Ray grabbed the top spot on the ninth circuit and never looked back en route to the $3,000 triumph over David Payne, Dale McDowell, Riley Hickman, and Randy Weaver. Complete results from Cleveland can be located online at www.southernregionalracingseries.com.

"It feels great to hit the double digit win mark for the second straight year with the D&R Motorsports team," exclaimed Cook earlier this week. "We had a good car and the track was racy for the most part. I was actually lucky to even finish the race, much less win it, as I broke an A-Frame with about five laps to go. It all worked out though and hopefully we can get things to go our way again this weekend at Florence!"

The #53 team has turned their single focus this week towards the upcoming 'North/South 100,' which will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 13-14 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the annual crown jewel event, which pays a whopping $50,000 to the winner and $2,500 to start. Qualifying will take place at the Cincinnati area venue on Friday evening, while heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap 'North/South 100' are scheduled for Saturday night. Ray is currently fourth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings heading into Florence. Additional information on one of the biggest weekends in our sport can be located at www.lucasdirt.com.
