TURNER DECLARED GREENVILLE WINNER AFTER HIETT’S TIRE FOUND TO BE CHEMICALLY ENHANCED

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA driving the Turner Excavating DWB has been declared the winner of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on July 31 at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. The right-rear tire of apparent winner Jason Hiett of Lincoln, AL was found to be chemically enhanced by an independent laboratory.

The victory is the second career win for Turner, and both victories have come at Greenville Speedway. Turner has now successfully defended his first career win at Greenville Speedway in 2009.

The right-rear tire off the OMG/Cofields Racing Starters GRT Hiett drove to the apparent victory on July 31 tested positive for chemical enhancements by NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Technical Director Tim Sims using a sniffer device during the post-race technical inspection. The tire was confiscated and sent to an independent laboratory for further evaluation.

The results from the independent laboratory were received today by NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS officials. The lab results confirmed the findings discovered on July 31 during the post-race technical inspection. Hiett will forfeit the $2,500 winner’s share of the purse, all points earned for the race, and will be fined $1,000 for the rules infraction.

The points will be adjusted for the drivers who participated in the race to reflect the revised results, and the difference in the purse monies will be mailed to the appropriate drivers by NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS officials. The revised NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National point standings and statistics are posted on the series web site at www.nesmithracing.com.

The next event for the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour will be the 75-lap $5,000-to-win 5th Annual Labor Day Weekend Bash Presented By NOS Energy Drink at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS on September 3-4.
