Eddie Provence Sends Out Thanks and Condolences

(East End, Arkansas) “Fast” Eddie Provence raced his Red, Black, and White GRT Super Late Model in this past weekend’s Comp Cams MSRA Late Model Series events at Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri, and North East Arkansas Speedway in Harrisburg, Arkansas.

Friday nights event was cut short due to a tragedy on the track, as worker Earl Grubbs lost his life after a freak accident before the nights B-Main event. Provence would not have been able to race in the nights remaining events due to a blown motor, had the tragedy not taken place.

As Eddie was notifying MSRA Series Director Chris Ellis of his intentions to head home due to the blown motor, Keith Lawson of Lawson Sod Farms stepped to the plate, and provided Eddie with a new motor.

With the help of modified racer Curtis Cook, Kyle and Gary Beard, Charlie Cole, Jon Mitchell, and their crews, Eddie was able to get the motors swapped out, and was able to race in Saturday night’s event at North East Arkansas Speedway. Eddie would finish in the 15th position, helping him remain in the Top 10 in MSRA Series Points.

Provence gave his thoughts on the weekend via telephone on Sunday evening.

“First off, I’d like to send my condolences to the family of Mr. Earl Grubbs, and the entire Malden Speedway racing family.” said Provence. “What happened on Friday night was a tragedy of major proportion, and it really helped me to put things in perspective when I was down about my motor being blown. I also want to send out a major thanks to Mr. Keith Lawson. He is the reason I was able to race Saturday night, after he gave me a motor to use after finding out I was running in the Top 10 in points. I would also like to thank Curtis Cook, Jon Mitchell, Kyle and Gary Beard, Charlie Cole, and their respective pit crews for all of the help and extra parts it took in order to swap the motors out and get me running for Saturday night’s event. I truly appreciate each and every one who helped me out this weekend.”

Eddie will be in action this next weekend at USA Raceway in Sterlington, Louisiana on Friday night, and at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas on Saturday night. Both events will be sanctioned by the Comp Cams MSRA Late Model Series.
