The Yantz Family Sells Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY- July 30, 2010- Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY will complete the 2010 racing season with new owners/promoters as Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz has sold the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval to Donnie Sullivan and family of Stanford, KY.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the race teams, race fans, and track sponsors that have supported us during our five and half-year tenure as promoters of Ponderosa Speedway”, stated former track co-promoter Chad Yantz on behalf of the entire Yantz family. “We will assist Mr. Sullivan with the raceday operation of the track for the remainder of the 2010 racing season before we step away from the track and Donnie and his family will promote the track on their own beginning in 2011. We want to help Mr. Sullivan and his family to make the transition from our promotion of the track to his family’s promotion of the track as smooth as possible.”

The four weekly divisions that have been in competition in 2010 will finish out the season and the remainder of the 2010 racing schedule will basically remain in same.

Racing action will resume at the track known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday August 13 with a full program of weekly racing series competition featuring the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane, just outside of Junction City, KY on the Boyle/Lincoln County border. Donnie and Angie Sullivan, along with their son Donnie, Jr., are the new track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings throughout the remainder of the 2010 racing season. Donnie Sullivan and Family are New Promoters of Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY- July 30, 2010- One of Kentucky’s oldest and most storied race tracks has new promoters as Donnie and Angie Sullivan, along with their son Donnie, Jr., are the new bosses at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY, a 3/8 mile D-shaped clay oval located just outside of Junction City, KY on the Boyle/Lincoln County border.

The Sullivan family resides in Stanford, KY. Mr. Sullivan has competed at the track over the past two seasons in the UMP Sportsman division and will now trade his helmet in and the family will don the promoters cap at the racing venue that can trace its roots back to late 1972.

“We are extremely excited to be at the promotional helm of such a historic racing facility”, stated the elder Sullivan. “We want to let the racers, race teams, and race fans to know they can expect new and exciting things for the future of Ponderosa Speedway”. Mr. Sullivan also added, “We will run the remainder of the 2010 racing schedule as it is, along with possibly adding some more events to the schedule after the Fall Classic weekend is completed the first weekend of October. We will keep the same divisions in competition that have raced so far during the 2010 race season and the payoff schedule for each division will remain the same”.

The first night of racing competition for the Sullivan family as promoters of Ponderosa Speedway will take place on Friday August 13. The Friday August 13 racing program will feature a full program of weekly racing series competition for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.

Current track championship point leaders heading into the Friday August 13 event are David Webb of Nicholasville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Jeremy Hines of Seymour, IN in Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY in Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and Rick King of Junction City, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.
