NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 18 PREVIEWCARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 18 of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will see a full slate of six events in the East Region, while the West Region will run a limited schedule of four races at three tracks, as most of the West Region tracks have taken the week off for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events in Greenville, MS and Columbus, MS.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Week 18 events will begin on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, with Saturday night races set for East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN, New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will open the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 18 action on Friday night, while Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS will host double features on Saturday night, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will also be in action on Saturday night.
Several drivers from both the East and West Regions will be traveling to Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS in search of valuable Regional bonus points at three NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring events over the weekend.
Greenville Speedway will host a 40-lap $2,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring event on Friday night and a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race on Saturday night. Magnolia Motor Speedway will present a 40-lap $2,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring event on Sunday night.
Drivers earn 25 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional bonus points in their home Region at each National Touring event, and can earn a maximum of 150 bonus points that are added to their Regional point totals. Many drivers in the top ten of the East and West Region point standings have reached the 16 race mark. A driver’s best 16 point nights count towards their Regional season point total.
Drivers that have reached the 16 race mark then begin netting points by replacing their lowest point night in their best 16 with a higher point night. Some drivers can pick up more points by competing in the National Touring events with the 25 bonus points than they could by netting a few points at a weekly show.
With some drivers earning Regional bonus points and other drivers still earning full points as they work towards the 16 race mark at the weekly shows over the weekend, there could be some big changes in the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West and East Region point standings to report on Monday.
