SHARON’S FASTRAK NORTHEAST LATE MODEL TOURING SERIES EVENT RAINED OUT WITH 39 CARS ON HAND; EVENT RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY
By Mike Leone
Hartford, OH…The FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series joined up with the World of Outlaw Late Models on Wednesday night at Sharon Speedway for race #11 of 20 on the 2010 slate. Despite a 70% chance of thunderstorms and a midweek show, an excellent field of 39 cars turned out; however, just as qualifying for the World of Outlaws finished up thunderstorms rolled through Hartford, Ohio.
Heavy rains deluged the facility and after a waiting for some 30 minutes, the decision was made to postpone the event to Thursday night (July 29). Thursday will be a complete new show with all cars redrawing for starting positions. All Northeast Touring Series member drivers will receive 10 show-up points for Wednesday night in addition to Thursday’s points paying event.
Pits will again open at 3 p.m. A drivers meeting will be held at 6:10. Hot laps will get underway at 6:30 followed by World of Outlaw Late Model time trials at 7 and racing to immediately follow. Drivers will draw pills for heat race line-ups with B main last chance races to determine the line-up for the 25-lap $1,200 to-win event. If 30 or more cars are again present, the “Wheelman” Bonus Event Challenge Series non-qualifiers race will be run.

Mother Nature takes the win at Fayetteville Motor Speedway
By: Alex Cummings
Wingate, NC. August 2, 2010. Mother Nature was able to win out against the 27 car field at Fayetteville Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 31. The Carolina Clash was able to get in qualifying and just two laps of the main event before the skies opened up and rain began to fall.
When the Carolina Clash cars took to the track for qualifying it was the 17 of Timmy Blackwell setting fast time for his first career pole in a Carolina Clash event. 2nd fastest was the 54 of Steve Blackburn, 3rd was the 10 of Ray Tucker, 4th was the 22 of GR Smith, and 5th was the 1 of Ricky Weeks. The only incident during qualifying was when the 92 of Stephen Evans spun in turn 3 but was able to continue with no damage.
After qualifying, the 10 of Ray Tucker was forced to scratch from the field when he blew his motor on his 2nd qualifying lap. Also having mechanical trouble was the 79 of Roger Lucas who also scratched from the nights activities.
With just 25 cars left, Fayetteville Motor Speedway and the Carolina Clash deemed all 25 cars would start the main event and no heat races would be run to save time before the rains came.
On the drop of the green flag, the 54 of Steve Blackburn used his outside starting position to its full potential by grabbing the early lead. Trailing in 2nd place was the 17 of Timmy Blackwell with the 22 of GR Smith hot on his tail. The A1 of Scott Autry is currently running 4th with the 1w of Ricky Weeks welded to his rear bumper in 5th place.
As the cars came around under the flagstand to complete the 2nd lap, the 91 of Travis Hair broke coming down the frontstretch which sent cars going both high and low to make it past the nearly stopped car. As this happened, a two car incident took place in turn 4 when the 12 of Zach Cox and the 29 of Greg Stutts came together and had to be pulled apart. While the caution was out, the rain began to fall at a slow but steady pace. Then it began to pour and the cars were sent to their haulers for refuge from the torrential downpour.
After waiting nearly an hour, the rain stopped and packer cars took to the track to get the track run in. After another 25 minutes, the track was coming along wonderfully when Mother Nature began to pour buckets back onto the 3/8 mile clay oval. The decision was then made to reschedule the race.
