Jack Sullivan “Brave The Shave” Campaign Raises $1,200 at I-30 SpeedwayGreenbrier, Arkansas (07/27/10) – Jack Sullivan, driver of the #1 AAA Diesel/Bryant Motorsports/GRT House Car Super Late Model, debuted his portion of the “Brave the Shave” campaign over the weekend at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas.
With Jack in action for two nights at I-30 Speedway in O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Model action, he decided to officially kick off his fundraising campaign. During the course of the weekend, racers and speedway staff, assisted in taking donations from fans and competitors for the fundraiser, and the end result was over $1,200 being raised.
In regards to the outpouring from the weekend Jack Sullivan comments “I’ve got to really thank Tracey Clay and the entire staff at I-30 Speedway as well as all of the racers in all of the divisions and all of the fans. I’ve always considered I-30 Speedway to be my home track, and the support and donations were just unbelievable. I really want to raise more money than any other driver for this campaign, so that I’m the first driver to get my head shaved at Eldora Speedway in September.”
The Brave The Shave Campaign is part of the “A Head For A Cure Organization,” which is a nonprofit organization that was created by Super Late Model racer, Jeep Van Wormer, to help raise money for cancer research. The Children's Cancer Fund of America, Cancer Research Institute, and American Cancer Society all benefit from the program.
This program is special to Jack and the entire Sullivan family. Jack notes, “My Mom has worked as a Nurse in oncology for several years, and our family has been affected by cancer. As a result, I want to do anything that I can to raise money for cancer research and help fight the battle.”
In addition to Jack Sullivan, several other drivers have signed on to “Brave the Shave” including Shannon Babb, Rick Eckert, Jimmy Owens, Brandon Kinzer, Jeep Van Wormer, Brady Smith, Brian Birkhofer, Jon Blankenship, Eddie Carrier Jr., Shane Clanton, Steve Francis, and more.
The driver, who receives the most donations in their name, will have his head shaved first on the front stretch at the World 100 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 10th-11th, 2010. Jack wants to be the first driver to have his head shaved, so to donate online, please go to
www.ahead4acure.com and donate in Jack Sullivan’s name. Race fans can donate any denomination that they want, and each and every cent is greatly appreciated.
Jack made the short trip to I-30 Speedway on Friday night for the first leg of the weekend's O'Reilly SUPR Super Late Model doubleheader. With 26 Super Late Models on hand, Jack won his heat race to earn the fourth starting spot for the 25 lap feature. He would work his way up to the second spot early in the event and would battle Rob Litton for the lead for much of the event before settling for a second place finish.
Saturday night found the driver of the GRT House Car in action at I-30 Speedway once again for a $2,500 to win, O'Reilly SUPR event. Via passing points accumulated in heat race action, Jack would start 7th in the feature event. However, a lap one melee would bend the tie rod, which prevented Sullivan from making up much ground in the pack. As a result, he ultimately decided to retire to an 18th place finish in the 50 lap event.
This Saturday, July 31st race fans will also have a chance to donate to the program at the O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Model event at Baton Rouge Raceway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A Donation buckets will be available at the team’s hauler. For more information on the event, please visit
