CLMA DIRTcar Series and NCRA Late Model Series go head to head in Kansas for two days
by: Cory Moul, Colorado Late Model Associations DIRTcar Series Come join the Colorado Late Model Association DIRTcar Series and National Championship Racing Association Late Model Series for an action packed weekend of racing! The two series will be competing head to head next weekend at Dodge City Raceway Park and 81 Speedway.
The first day of racing will take place at the 3/8's mile Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas on Saturday, July 31st. This will be the third race of the year for the CLMA at this track and the first and only race of the year for the NCRA. CLMA points leader Eddie Kirchoff swept the weekend of racing here earlier this year, but he will not be making the trip. NCRA points leader Kelly Boen won in dominating fashion when the NCRA raced here last August. This is one of the nicest race facilities in the region and we would love to see a huge turn out. The race will pay $2,500 to win and $400 to start.
The second day of racing will take place at the 3/8's mile 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas on Sunday, August 1st. This is the closest things to a home track that the NCRA has since it is owned by series owner C Ray Hall. Terry Phillips won the NCRA season opener here in May. Eric Turner and Kelly Boen won the two races at his track last year. This will be the first time that the CLMA has visited this great track. This race will also pay $2,500 to win and $400 to start.
This race will be run with NCRA rules, but they are almost exactly the same as the CLMA rules except for the way line ups are handled. We will be using passing points to line up the mains. We will be running on Hoosier D55 tires only. Both nights of racing will be UMP DIRTcar National and Northwest Region points races. The NCRA and CLMA will be providing a hamburger dinner to all of the drivers and crews after Saturday nights races.
