Deery Series headed to Knoxville for rescheduled Harris Clash show

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 22) – Deery Brothers Summer Series drivers have some catching up to do, when they head to Knoxville Raceway for a $2,000 to win Wednesday, July 28 IMCA Late Model tour event.

What was to have been the second night of the Harris Clash special was postponed from July 7 because of rain and wet track conditions. No changes in times result from the rescheduling as pit gates will open at 2 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m., hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. and racing begins at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $3 for kids. Pit passes are $25 and no one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the pit area.

Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the program. Pre-entries are not required in either division.

Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., topped last night’s Deery Series event at Oskaloosa to strengthen his grip on the tour point lead. Despite breaking in his heat, Mark Burgtorf of Quincy, Ill., remains second in the standings with Andy Eckrich of Iowa City in third. Terry Neal of Ely is fourth while six-time and defending champion Jeff Aikey of Waterloo is fifth.

Aikey picked up a pair of his series career-leading 54 feature wins at Knoxville, in 1995 and 1996. Tommy Elston of Keokuk paced the Harris Clash contest there last year, the first time the series was part of the event.

Marshalltown’s Darrel DeFrance will extend his perfect Deery Series attendance record to 362 consecutive events when the gates open at Knoxville.

The 11th of 16 dates on the 2010 Deery Series schedule is at Farley Speedway on Tuesday, Aug. 3.
