Dubuque hosts two $1,200 to win shows for IMCA Late Models
DUBUQUE, Iowa – IMCA Late Models will race for $1,200 to win at a pair of upcoming events at Dubuque Speedway.
National and Allstar Performance state, but no local track points will be given for the Wednesday, July 28 county fair event. All applicable points are at stake for the regular weekly show on Sunday, Aug. 1.
Both events are draw/redraw shows with feature purses upped by the Dubuque County Fair Board. Second place both nights pays $750, with $500 for third, $400 for fourth, $300 for fifth, $275 for sixth, $250 for seventh, $225 for 8th, $210 for 9th, $200 for 10th, $190 for 11th, $180 for 12th, $170 for 13th, $150 for 14th, $140 for both 15th and 16th, $125 for 17th through 20th, and $100 for the rest of the 24-car field. Non-qualifiers get $75.
Pit passes are $20. Hot laps start at 7 p.m. with racing to follow each night.
IMCA’s weekly point season for Late Models ends on Sunday, Aug. 29. IMCA rules will be in effect for special events at two other Keith Simmons-promoted venues in September.
First place pays $1,000 on Wednesday, Sept. 15 during the Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway.
A bigger payday is in the works for the Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25 Liberty 100 at West Liberty. Top prize is $3,500 in each of two 50-lap features, the second of which will be run with IMCA rules and procedures in effect. There’s also a $1,000 bonus waiting for the driver who can win both those events.
IMCA and open races of champions each pay $1,000 to win on opening night.
