Anthony Sanders Picks Up City Chevrolet Late Model Win - Continues Cherokee Speedway Domination

Gaffney, South Carolina – After a nearly two hour rain delay Anthony Sanders scored the win in Cherokee Speedway’s City Chevrolet GM Performance Late Models on Saturday night. Sanders set fast time and led every lap en route to his third win in his last four starts at the Gaffney, South Carolina 3/8ths mile oval. Sanders built leads of as much as a half a straightaway and took the win by about five car lengths over Adam Yarbrough. “We had another great run. The car has been so good every where this year. I need to thank Kelly Hamrick for giving me such great equipment to run. It’s a good feeling to know that people think of you as one of the guys to beat wherever you unload.” Sanders said after his win.

Sanders has built an impressive set of statistics thus far in 2010. In 29 crate late model starts Sanders has amassed seven wins and 20 top fives with only one DNS to date. Sanders will look to add to those stats this weekend when he travels to Rural Retreat, Virginia for the Fastrak Racing Series sanctioned Virginia State Championship at Wythe Raceway which will pay $3000 to the winner. “I really like Wythe. It’s a great track that always provides a good racing surface that allows drivers to be able to race. We went up there for a twin feature event earlier in the year and did well. I was up to 6th in the first feature and had a power steering line come off. And in the second feature we came from 19th to finish 6th. So I know we have a chance to run well up there.” Sanders said.

Another event that Sanders is looking forward to is the 38th Annual Gaston County Shrine Race scheduled for Tuesday, August 10th. “That race has always been very special to me. And this year it will have even more meaning. That will be our first NDRA race since our suspension last year. I was suspended for 365 days because of an engine infraction. I honestly didn’t know the engine was wrong or I wouldn’t have been racing it. But we took our punishment because it was an illegal engine. I learned a big lesson from all that and we are ready to get back to Carolina. I really like to run at Carolina. I won my first crate race there and it is the closest to my hometown of Belmont.” Sanders added.

Anthony would like to thank all of his sponsors for their continued support. The sponsors include: Hamrick’s of Gaffney, Parris Construction, Cody Brothers Roofing, KELCAR Motorsports Media, Indocil Art, Eagle Manufacturing, Butler Built Seats, Simpson, JPW Racing, Petersen Aluminum, Q Racing Oil, Wa-Don Bert Transmission and VP Race Fuels.
