COMP Cams MSRA Invade Louisiana and Arkansas Round Two

Beebe, AR (07/10/10) – After losing both events last weekend to rain the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model tour will take a second attempt at the doubleheader this weekend, July 16th-17th, with events at Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Louisiana) and 67 Speedway (Texarkana, Arkansas).

Last Friday over 30 Super Late Models crowded into the pits as the tour made its debut at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, Louisiana. However, shortly after hot laps, heavy rain would arrive, which nixed the program. Saturday’s event at 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Arkansas was canceled early in the day due to excessive rain. With both events falling victim to rain, the decision was made to reschedule both programs for this weekend.

As the season approaches its midway point the point’s battle is starting to tighten as only 84 points separate the top five in the standings. Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas is the current leader with Bill Frye (Arkansas), Jon Mitchell (Texas), Joey Mack (Missouri), and Jeff Floyd (Arkansas) in close pursuit.

The top drivers in the standings will be joined by a strong contingent of competitors this weekend, who will also be looking to make up ground in the point’s chase, including Brandon Smith, Shane Stephens, Eddie Provence, Charlie Cole, Terry Henson, Wesley Crutchfield, Jeff Sloan, Clay Fisher, Ross Camponovo, and more.

Brandon Smith continues to hold a narrow advantage in the Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year battle over Shane Stephens.

The tour will make its second attempt to host its inaugural event at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, Louisiana on Friday, July 17th with a $2,000 to win/$300 to start, 30 lap event. The tour is very excited to be visiting the storied oval, and a big crowd is expected to be on hand to catch all of the action. Pit gates open at 5pm with grandstand gates at 6pm. Grandstand admission for adults is $15 with senior citizens receiving admission for $12 and 12 years of age and under are free. Pit passes are $15.

On Saturday, the action will shift to 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Arkansas for the $2,000 to win/$400 to start, Cross Lander Summer Sizzler 40 on Saturday, July 10th. There will also be some of the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Models on display at the Cross Lander of Texarkana dealership on Saturday from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The dealership is located at 3227 Summerhill Road in Texarkana, Texas. In addition A1 Salvage, Best Engines, and W&W Timber have signed on as associate sponsors for the event. The COMP Cams MSRA tour has already made one visit to the ¼ mile oval in 2010, and it was Bill Frye winning a thriller.
