CLEVELAND's FIRST LADY: JEAN JOHNSON MEMORIAL RACE - S.A.S $5,000 to-WIN... SATURDAY JULY 17th

CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Cleveland (TN) Speedway will again host the Southern All-Star racing series as the best dirt Super Late Model racers in the region compete for over $20,000 in winnings. The 20th JEAN JOHNSON MEMORIAL race is scheduled for Saturday night, July 17th and will mark the series 3rd event of 2010 at Monty Morrow's facility just North of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Raceteams from around the region are expected to converge on the 1/3-mile clay banked facility, that will find the SLM's vying for a $5,000 first place prize for Cleveland Speedway's First Lady, wife to the late track owner Joe Lee Johnson and mother to two-time Dirt Track World Champion Ronnie Johnson.

The list of racers that could be in action at Cleveland includes the five time DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPION; Freddy Smith (of Seymour, TN) as well as former East Tennessee teammate Skip Arp (of nearby Georgetown, TN) who's a multi-Cleveland Speedway and S.A.S winner. Current World of Outlaw Late Model series competitor and Cleveland/S.A.S winner CATDADDY Clint Smith could be in the house, where he came from 14th place to take the JEAN JOHNSON MEMORIAL race less than a year ago. The defending GOBBLER champ Chris SMOKEY Madden (of Gaffney, SC); and 2008 GOBBLER champ THE GEORGIA GIANT Shane Clanton (of South Atlanta) plus many more could be expected to enter the race.

As for regional SLM racers looking to take the $5,000 prize, should include recent TENN. MEMORIAL RACE winner Randy THE DREAM Weaver (of Crossville, TN), Knoxville's Billy Ogle Jr. and Rick Rogers, Tommy Kerr (of Rockwood), and 1999 S.A.S Champion Jamie Perry of Ringgold, GA could see entry. Local competitors Jake Knowles, Keith SHORTY Frazier, Todd Morrow, BADD Brad Coffey, Riley Hickman, along with many members of the MURPHY MAFIA (such as David Payne, Johnny & Shawn Chastain, George Mashburn, Gabe Wilson and more) could see entrees also.

Saturday, July 17th kicks off a rich Dirt SLM summer at the Cleveland Speedway with the first of 2 events with a variety of sanctionings within a 5-day range. Thursday night July 22nd, the Ray Cook's Southern Nationals invade for a $3,500 special event. The Southern Regional Racing series is set to wrap up the HoT SuMMeR NiGHTS of SLM actions at Cleveland Speedway with the a $3,000 to-WIN event August 7th. Along with the S.A.S race Saturday; the LLM/Crate, A & B Hobby, Pony Stocks & FWD divisions will all be in action. Gates open at 4PM in the Pits and 5PM in the Grandstands.
