Laraway Motorsports gets feature win over Holiday weekend
On Friday, July 2, 2010, at Dog Hollow Speedway, Dane Laraway started the heat race in third position, and finished by advancing one spot to the second position. This earned Dane a third place starting position in the feature event. Dane took the lead on the fourth lap and was only challenged on the final few circuits by his teammate, Sammy Stile. This was truly a photo-finish, as the race was so close between Dane and Sammy that the feature winner had to be verified by the track photographer. As the dust settled, the photo revealed that the race had been won by less than three inches, and Dane was left to waive the checkered flag. This is Dane’s second feature win of the season. Sammy Stile started the heat race in the fifth position and finished third, one spot behind Dane. Sammy started the feature event in fifth position and finished in second, amazingly a mere three inches behind his teammate. It was an exciting evening of racing for Laraway Motorsports.
On Saturday July 3, 2010, at Marion Center Speedway, Dane was running the heat race in second position when his car was hit and heavily damaged by a spinning race leader. The team was able to repair the car well enough to get it back onto the track for the feature event. Dane had to start at the tail of the fifteen car field, and only managed to advance three spots on the slick racing surface, finishing in 12th position. Sammy Stile started seventh in the heat and finished third, earning a sixth place starting position for the feature event. By the end of the feature event Sammy had advanced to the third spot. The slick track proved to be a factor as there was very little passing, with the winner of the feature event starting in second position and the pole-sitter finishing in second position. Despite the setbacks of the evening and the track conditions, the drivers and the cars performed very well.
Laraway Motorsports is looking forward to three nights of racing this weekend. The team will be competing as usual at Dog Hollow Speedway on Friday and Marion Center Speedway on Saturday, in a continuation of their pursuit of the Coal Country Championship point title. On Sunday, July 11, the team will return to Dog Hollow for a $5,000.00 to win UFO show.
