Matt Long and GazZu Racing Head for the Legendary West Virginia Motor Speedway

Concord, North Carolina – Matt Long and his GazZu Energy Drink Race Team are busy preparing their #25 Rocket Chassis for a pair of Fastrak Racing Series Touring events scheduled for this Friday and Saturday night at West Virginia Motor Speedway. Friday night, July 9th the action at the legendary Mineral Wells, West Virginia 5/8ths of a mile oval will feature a $1200 to win Fastrak Mid-Ohio Region event which will serve as a “warm-up” for the $10,000 to win Fastrak National Touring event on Saturday night, July 10th. Long is very excited about returning to his home region to race. “WVMS is very close to where I grew up. It’s only about an hour’s drive from my hometown. So not only is this a great event for us to promote our sponsors and their products to another region, it will be an opportunity for a ton of friends and family to see us race. WVMS has held some really historic events so it will be very cool to race there. So this event is really an all around big deal for me personally.” Long added.

Long and his team have had an up and down few weeks recently taking two wins in three weeks but also struggling in NDRA Road Show events. “We still seem to be fast right off the trailer everywhere we go. But our finishes haven’t always reflected that. Our biggest hurdle lately has been the one lap qualifying format that NDRA is using. It seems that I must be trying too hard to put down a good lap or I am being too conservative trying to get in a decent lap. I have to work on that to put us in a better position to capitalize on just how good our car is. We had a great car at Friendship (NC) and ended up with a DNF because of where we started at. It’s just something that I will have to step-up and overcome as a driver. The guys and I will put our heads together and get it worked out.” Long said.
