NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JULY 5CARTERSVILLE, GA – There was limited NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action due to the July 4th holiday weekend during Week 14, but several drivers picked up several bonus points by competing NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring competition during the weekend.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour was in action at 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA on Friday and Saturday night, and at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on Sunday night. Eligible drivers competing in those events received 25 bonus points for each event that are added to their best 16 Regional point totals.
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point leader Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL picked up 75 bonus points for competing in all three events. Edge now has 855 points, including a total of 100 bonus points based on his best 16 point nights with three wins, 16 top five finishes, and 17 top ten finishes in 18 starts driving the Edge’s Gas Company Mastersbilt.
Edge can still earn 50 more Regional bonus points by competing in two more NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring events. Drivers can earn up to 150 Regional bonus points by competing in NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring events.
Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 671 points, including the 25 bonus points he collected at East Alabama Motor Speedway on Sunday night. Stephens has driven the Bennett Logging RMRC to seven wins, ten top fives and 13 top tens in 14 starts.
Ryan King of Anniston, AL is third in the East Region standings with 630 points after adding 75 Regional bonus points to bring his total to 100 bonus points. “Flyin’ Ryan” has three top fives and ten tens in 12 starts driving the True Bond Masonry TSR. Craig Scott of Newnan, GA is fourth with 579 points after three wins, eight top fives and 12 top tens in 14 starts driving the Base Fuel GRT.
Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is fifth in the East Region standings with 566 points after three wins and ten top fives in 11 starts driving the United Bank GRT. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is sixth with 562 points based on two wins, nine top fives and 11 top tens in 11 starts driving the Charco, Inc. TNT.
Paul Walters of Valley, AL grabbed 25 Regional bonus points at EAMS to bring his seventh-place East Region point total to 539 after one win, four top fives, and 10 top tens in 11 starts aboard the Gary Davis Construction Warrior.
Larry Harrod of Plains, GA has already earned his 150 Regional bonus points and is eighth in the East Region standings with 531 points. “The Big Tree” has two wins, and seven top fives in just eight starts driving the Harrod Logging Scorpion. Parrish Duncan of Newnan, GA is ninth with 499 points after seven top fives and 11 top tens in 11 starts.
Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 496 points after driving the Wallace Paint and Body Wallace to eight top fives and 11 top tens in 11 starts.
In NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region action on Saturday night, Jake Teague of Oliver Springs, TN won the first of two feature races at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN driving the Wade’s Body Shop Bloomquist. Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN picked up his third win of the season in the second MRP feature driving the Dale’s Auto Sales GRT.
Taylor Jarvis of Milton, FL drove the Jarvis Racing Trak-Star to his second win of the season at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL. Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA raced to his fourth win of the season at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA driving the Darda Tire GRT.
The June 28 East Region race at East Alabama Motor Speedway was rained out. NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Week 15 action begins tonight at East Alabama Motor Speedway.
Three-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion and current point leader Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS reached the 16 race mark with his 11th top five finish of the season on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Keeton has 778 points with four wins, 11 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 16 starts driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star.
Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS took over the second spot in the West Region standings after taking advantage of picking up 75 bonus points by competing in the three NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring events over the weekend. Lawson has a total of 125 Regional bonus points included in his 764 point total after three top fives and 12 top tens in 15 starts driving the Lawson Construction Rocket.
Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS had his first finish outside the top five on Saturday night after a 16th-place finish at Magnolia Motor Speedway. “Dr. Dirt” remains third in the West Region standings with 755 points after seven wins and 12 top five finishes in 13 starts driving the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics Mastersbilt.
Shay Knight of Ethelsville, MS picked up his second win of the season on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway, topping a 26-car field in the Dunn’s Autos Mastersbilt. Knight is fourth in the West Region standings with 646 points based on two wins, nine top fives, and 11 top tens in 12 starts.
Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is fifth in the West Region standings with 531 points after driving the Century Dedicated, Inc, Trak-Star to five wins, six top fives, and seven top tens in eight starts. Chad McCool of Millport, AL is sixth with 528 points based on one top five, and six top tens in 11 starts driving the M&M Logging Mastersbilt.
Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is seventh in the West Region standings with 526 points after two top fives and seven top tens in 11 starts driving the Michau Logging Warrior. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is eighth with 512 points based on three wins, seven top fives and eight top tens in ten starts driving the Medicaid Planning Specialists Trak-Star.
Cliff Williams of Star, MS is ninth in the West Region standings with 509 points based on two wins and seven top fives in nine starts driving the Ware Construction Trak-Star. Randy Boyd of Marion, MS rounds out the top ten in the West Region standings with 466 points after seven top fives and nine top tens in nine starts driving the Coca-Cola of Meridian Trak-Star.
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action on Thursday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS was rained out. Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS did not report their Friday night results.
The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance in Cuba, AL continues to lead the 2010 standings, as Jarvis posted their 32nd win of the season in Week 14 action.
Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR made some gains with wins from Wilson and Darda to bring their second-place total to 25 wins.
Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third with 19 wins, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is fourth with four wins, and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth with two wins.
