CMH Diamond Nationals Now Just Over Two Weeks AwayWheatland, MO (June 30th, 2010) - The Fourth Annual CMH Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri is now just over two weeks away as one of the most anticipated events of the season gets a new date in 2010. The CMH Diamond Nationals features the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in their second and final appearance this season on Saturday night, July 17th, 2010. Also competing for the $10,000 winner's share will be the region's top Dirt Late Model Drivers from the Lucas Oil MLRA. The Pitt's Homes A-Modifieds will also be in action gunning for a top prize of $500 to win.
2009 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion Scott Bloomquist once again finds himself on top of the season points standings as he leads Newport, Tennessee's Jimmy Owens by 135 points heading into the Independence Day Weekend. Bloomquist scored his first win with Roush-Yates Racing Engines in the Scorcher 100 on June 19th at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. The Win was the fifth overall for Bloomquist in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Competition in 2010. Earl Pearson Jr. sits in the third spot in the season points standings just 190 points out of the top spot. Martinsville, Indiana's Don O'Neal sits solidly in fourth spot while 2010 DART Show-Me 100 Champion Ray Cook out of Brasstown, North Carolina rounds out the Top-5. Dale McDowell, Steve Casebolt, Dan Schlieper, Chris Wall, and Eric Wells sit sixth through tenth respectively.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series embarks on a very busy month of July starting on Thursday Night, July 1st with a first ever visit to Beckley Motorsports Park in Beckley, WV. The event is part of a three-race weekend trip to the "Mountaineer State" of West Virginia and the "Buckeye State" of Ohio. On Saturday Night, July 3rd the stars of the LOLMDS will compete in the "Budweiser 50" at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH and on Sunday Night, July 4th the stars of the LOLMDS will visit Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH. In the battle for the Lucas Oil MLRA Championship, Republic, Missouri's Brad Looney continues to lead the points, although the margin is now just 10 points over 6-Time and Defending Lucas Oil MLRA Champion Al Purkey out of Coffeyville, Kansas heading into the Double Header this weekend at I-80 Speedway in Omaha, Nebraska and the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa. Oxford, Iowa's Dave Eckrich sits in the third spot only 12 points behind the leader Looney. Terry Phillips sits in fourth after scoring a pair of wins this past weekend at Missouri's State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri and the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri. Spectator Gates will open at 5:00pm on Saturday, July 17th with Hot Laps set to get under way at 7:30 followed by Qualifying, Heat Races, and Main Events. Adult Admission at the gate will be just $25 with Seniors and Active Military only $20. Juniors (6-15) will be $5 and Kids 5 and under are always FREE at Lucas Oil Speedway. Show Your AAA Membership Card at the gate and receive $3 off any Adult or Senior General Admission Ticket.
