NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 13 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are 11 races on the Week 13 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series schedule of events with seven in the East Region and four in the West Region. The first race of Week 13 competition has already been run on Tuesday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL with Larry Harrod of Plains, GA taking the win.

Drivers will also be able to earn up to 50 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional bonus points at a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring races at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS this weekend. The $2,000-to-win Dasani Water 40 will be on Friday night, and the $2,500-to-win Coca-Cola Classic 50 will be on Saturday night.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors, who compete at sanctioned weekly track throughout the Southeast, can earn up to 150 bonus points that are added to their best 16 point night totals. Competitors earn 25 bonus points at each NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring events up to the 150-point limit.

East Region Week 13 competition in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series begins on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL. Saturday night East Region action is scheduled for East Alabama Motor Speedway, a $1,000-to-win race at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN, New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR will open NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 13 action on Friday night, with Saturday events set for A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.

The following are the top ten drivers in both the East and West Regions by point total, including bonus points, and their ranking by Event Point Averages (EPA) which is their point total minus bonus points, divided by the number of races they have competed in during the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 763 points, as he has reached the 16 race mark. Edge will now begin to net points by trying to improve on his lowest race point total with a higher one. Edge has two 39 point race nights to try and improve on. Edge has an EPA of 46.13 to rank fifth among the top ten.

Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL is second in the East Region standings with 596 points in 13 starts, and has an EPA of 45.85 to rank seventh in the East Region. Harrod moved up to the third spot in the East Region standings with his Tuesday night win to bring his total to 506 points in eight starts. That gives Harrod the third-highest East Region EPA at 47.63.

Craig Scott of Newnan, GA moved up to the fourth spot in the East Region after competing on Tuesday night with 482 points in 12 starts and the tenth-highest EPA among the East Region top ten at 40.17. Ryan King of Anniston, AL is fifth with 469 points in ten starts and the ninth-highest EPA at 44.40.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 455 points in nine starts, but has the highest EPA in the East Region at 47.78. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is seventh with 441 points in nine starts and has the fourth-highest EPA at 46.22. Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA is eighth in the East Region standings with 438 points in nine starts and has the sixth-highest EPA at 45.89.

The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Adam Martin of Talladega, AL is one to watch in the coming weeks. Although Martin is currently ninth in the East Region standings with 429 points in nine starts, he has the second highest EPA at 47.67. Paul Walters of Valley, AL rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 427 points in nine starts, and has the eighth-highest EPA at 44.67.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS leads the West Region standings with 681 points in 15 starts for the sixth-highest West Region EPA at 45.4. Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS and Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS are tied for the second spot in the West Region points chase, each driver with 639 points.

Stokes has 11 starts and the highest West Region EPA at 49. Lawson has 15 starts and the ninth-highest EPA at 42.6. Shay Knight of Ethelsville, AL is fourth in the West Region standings with 526 points in ten starts, and the seventh-highest EPA at 45.1.

Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is fifth in the West Region standings with 506 points in eight starts, and has the second-highest EPA at 47.63. Cliff Williams of Star, MS is sixth with 459 points in nine starts, and the fifth-highest EPA at 45.44. Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is seventh with 444 points in nine starts and the eighth-highest EPA at 43.78.

Chad McCool of Millport, AL is eighth in the West Region standings with 443 points in nine starts and the tenth-highest EPA among the West Region top ten drivers at 40.89. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is ninth with 429 points in eight starts, but has the second-highest EPA in the West Region at 47.38. Randy Boyd of Marion, MS rounds out the top ten in the West Region with 416 points and the fourth-highest EPA at 46.22.
